I get a terrible rash on my face/neck from my current helmet, which I clean quite often. It's quite possible I'm allergic to the interior lining. Anyone know a good place to buy a hypoallergenic helmet here in Thailand?

Full face helmet; either online on local shop.

Either online on local shop.

How old is the helmet (even though you clean it often)...

Could it be locked in bacteria (from sweating etc)... how do you clean it, remove the lining and soak with an antibacterial detergent ?

Do you usually show any signs of allergy to other items ??? clothing ?

Many higher end brands claim to use hypoallergenic materials...   Also, where are you ?

If in Bangkok, take yourself to Paddok or Panda Rider - they stock a lot of the brands I've listed below...

- My current helmet is a 2 year old RKN Crazy Bear bought from Lazada 1,200 baht.

- Yes, it could be bacteria or mold in the liner. Initially I didn't clean it as often or as thoroughly as I do now.  Tonight I sprayed the liner and chin strap with white vinegar and then washed with liquid detergent, not anti-bacterial though.

- Not a lot of allergy problems on the rest of my body or from other clothing. I have had problems with allergies my whole life, especially pet dander and mold.

- This problem is so bad I took a 6 week trip to Da Nang to see if my face rash would go away. I even rented a motorbike there and bought a new helmet for 12 Euros. The face rash completely went away..then I came back last week and it's terrible again.

- Also, I initially suspected mold in my apartment was causing my face rash.

- I'm currently in Jomtien, prefer to buy locally but if I have to ride to Bangkok I'll do it lol.

It defo seems like the helemet, especially if the rash is in area's where there is contact and another helmet didn't cause breakout...

Its unlikely a 1200 baht helmet is made with decent materials and even washing is not going to do a whole lot I imagine...

Note: The helmets in the shops I recommended are pricey - i.e. often 25,000 baht etc...  But you can look online and see what you like for the price and research it.

Someone Pattaya based will surely come up with a local shop that has a good selection of helmets...

i.e. a Honda Big-wing dealer etc...

Those shops (that I mentioned) will also deliver - but then you miss out on the 'trying on' for fit etc...

Yeah lesson learned from being cheap. If fits great but caused A LOT of suffering.

Any chance of finding something of quality between 5k-10k baht?

Is Bilmola a quality brand?

I think its a case of 'if you have to ask'... then....

.... I've never heard of Bilmola...  so I'm not sure...

Regarding price - it depends what you go for, there is a huge variation...   they have old stock, last years models etc... some good deals, but you'll have to find a 'fit'...

https://www.pandarider.com/Panda/product_helmets.html

https://paddock.co.th/product-category/road/road-helmets/shoei-road-helmet/

I really liked the Schuberth - but the fit wasn't right.

I liked the Caberg - didnt have my size.

So it'll take some digging to find something...

Depending on your riding and how you 'store your helmet' the Oneal moto-x helmets are well priced, but may not fit under a scooter seat etc...

For example:  This one looks solid:  (Modular - flip up)

Yes the Shark Ridill full face helmet is around 5k baht, good helmet, on Shopee.

I also have a Shark open face, around 8k.

Better to try on first unless you know the make fits you
