Israeli soldiers have arrested Hebron Mayor Tayseer Abu Sneineh, sparking anger in the West Bank city where officials fear for their autonomy.

The Hebron city council sharply condemned the arrest. It said a large contigent of troops broke into Abu Sneineh's home overnight and devastated the interior.

Palestinian media said the arrest was an attempt by Israel to establish an alternative Palestinian leadership in the city, replacing the autonomous Palestinian Authority (PA).

DUBAI (Reuters) -The United Arab Emirates warned Israel on Wednesday that any annexation of the West Bank would constitute a red line for Abu Dhabi that would severely undermine the spirit of the Abraham Accords that normalised relations between the two countries.

"From the very beginning, we viewed the Accords as a way to enable our continued support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate aspiration for an independent state," Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs and Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, told Reuters.

"That was our position in 2020, and it remains our position today."

The comments marked the UAE's strongest criticism of Israel's conduct since the start of the Gaza war in 2023.

This is Fatima and her mother-in-law, Fadda. They live in a makeshift camp perched on a rocky ledge.

Behind their tent is a cave, in which there are chickens and a bed. In front of it is the path where we now stand, and then a precipice that looks down upon a ravine.

They invite us into a tent to talk. Sweet tea is brought out, and so is the story of how their home was demolished, their car stolen, their peace destroyed and why they now have to hide their flock of sheep.

Every day, people come down to her home. Unwelcome visitors.

"We'd be baking bread, and they would come, lay out their mattresses and just sit there. When we told them to leave, they'd return with more settlers and an armed soldier." And the soldier, always, would be on the side of the settlers.

"At night we don't sleep," says Fadda, smiling through the pain.

Israeli soldiers conducted a raid on Saturday at the West Bank home of Basel Adra, one of the directors of Oscar-winning film No Other Land, the Palestinian filmmaker confirmed himself.

Adra said soldiers had asked his wife, Suha, for his whereabouts and proceeded to search through her phone, adding that their nine-month-old daughter was home at the time of the raid.

Earlier on Saturday, Israeli settlers attacked his village, injuring two of Adra’s brothers and one cousin, the director told press agency The Associated Press (AP). Adra had accompanied his family members to the hospital, where he found out Israeli soldiers had stormed his home.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) -Israel plans to close the Allenby crossing, the sole gateway between the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Jordan, starting on Wednesday until further notice, The Palestinian General Authority for Borders and Crossings said on Tuesday.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israel Airports Authority, which manages the crossing, did not immediately respond to a request for comment during a public holiday in Israel.

The United Nations has added nearly 70 more companies to a blacklist of firms from 11 countries that it says are complicit in violating Palestinian human rights through their business ties to Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The new list spotlights companies that do business that's deemed supportive of the settlements, which are considered by many to be illegal under international law. It includes an array of companies like vendors of construction materials and earth-movers, as well as providers of security, travel and financial services.

“Businesses working in contexts of conflict have a due diligence responsibility to ensure their activities do not contribute to human rights abuses,” said Ravina Shamdasani, spokesperson of the U.N. human rights office. “We call on businesses to take appropriate action to address the adverse human rights impacts of their activities.”

RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan outlines a blueprint for Palestinian statehood, but in the West Bank - where this vision would be realised - the economic prospects for a viable state are being strangled.

Transport corridors used by business have been fragmented by a network of Israeli settlements, employees of Palestinian institutions have not been paid as Israel blocks transfers of tax revenues, and the vital pillar of remittances from workers heading to Israel has all but dried up since the Gaza war began.

"We think twice before spending one shekel," Rami Harfoosh said as his 13-year-old son, who wonders if he will ever attend university, looked on. He has not been able to afford to buy a replacement for his son's hearing aid since losing the $1,700 monthly pay check he used to receive working in Israel.

Your story makes claims that aid donors disagree with.

In June, The European Commission provided  €202 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency in the Near East (UNRWA) and the Palestinian Authority with €150 million of the funds distributed in the Palestinian Authority zone.

https://north-africa-middle-east-gulf.ec.europa.eu/news/unrwa-and-palestinian-authority-receive-eu202-million-support-ensure-key-services-ground-2025-06-23_en

In August, Canada delivered $40 million in humanitarian assistance  through the World Bank, to support the Palestinian Authority’s role in stabilizing and governing the West Bank. Australia provided $20 million to the same program.  Where did it go?

You say the financial hardship is so bad, and yet the Palestinian Authority "Pay to Slay" scheme continues.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) is currently paying out the salaries to Palestinian prisoners, contrary to Western media reports that these payments have been stopped. As a matter of fact, the PA has not suspended its practice of "pay to slay" – that is, paying salaries to between 35,000 and 40,000 Palestinian prisoners who carried out attacks on Israelis, including civilians, and to the families of "martyrs," i.e. terrorists killed in these attacksThe new payment system is administered by the Palestinian National Institute for Economic Empowerment, which, despite being ostensibly independent, is headed by PA officials, chief of them  former PA minister Ahmed Majdalani, who is a close associate of PA President Mahmoud Abbas. This body is currently transferring the salaries to the prisoners and released prisoners thought post offices in the PA territories.

Israel may have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity when it forcibly expelled 32,000 Palestinians from three West Bank refugee camps earlier this year during a military operation in the area, a human rights group said Thursday.

Human Rights Watch said in a report that top Israeli officials including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Defense Minister Israel Katz should be investigated for war crimes and prosecuted if found responsible.

While much of the world focused on the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, Israel's military raided refugee camps in the north of the West Bank and expelled tens of thousands of Palestinians from their homes in January and February. It amounted to the largest-ever displacement in the territory since Israel captured it in the 1967 Mideast war.

Mate, you can't debate this topic with a far right Israeli. They will never admit as my wrongdoing despite all the evidence.

Why do the Jews call West Bank Judea?

Have they already taken it in their minds?

That number is becoming increasingly less. I've j it st looked at posts from October/November 2023, and there was lots of support for them, strangely those poster are not posting any more. There just a handful of Jewish ones still trying to defend the atrocities.

The land was called Judea right up until the 1940's when the UK changed its name to the West bank .

It was called Judea for 3000 years previously , right up until the 1940's.

The Israelis never did stop calling it Judea .

Judea is the lands correct name

Naw, folks are realizing that arguing with a terrorist supporter who waves the flag of hate and oppression in support of his colonialist jew, christian and America hating does little more that bring his insane gibbering to the top of search algorithms.

Its better to let the neo National Socialists just spew in their own little circle jerk.
