For some it is very important the corrupt money flows again.  Legalisation was a disaster for those that love corrupt money flows into their pockets.

I have no idea what is going on in Thai politics.  I haven't really followed it since 2013 when the current lot were  preparing to depose the legal government and replace them with a PERMANENT MILITARY JUNTA.  They have 75 permanent members who can never be voted out by any democratic means. I don't know what is interesting about that; just depressing.

Best to ignore for now:  In response, Minister Somsak Thepsuthin confirmed the postponement, highlighting the need for consultation with medical councils and stakeholders. He assured that discussions are ongoing but the delay will not be extensive.

just try and imagine how many growers have pounds and pounds of pot already grown and ready for sale...then imagine the govt actually does restrict sales, close most shops, and cause drastic drop in demand.  There are many Thais who over the past couple of years have invested in and learned how to grow good weed.  Will they all say oh never mind I will destroy all my equiptement and turn in all my existing supply to the cops?  I don' t think so.

 

Pot does not have an infinite shelf life so what will the growers do with all the excess product?  Hmmmm...my bet is it will go out into the black market and prices will plummet and put most of the "legit"  shops out of biz.  Who will go to a legit shop and pay prices way higher than they can buy on the street?  

 

Like weed it does get a little sticky and bit more complicated to put  genie back into the bottle.

The market umis still there, and some will be shipped offshore as well. Business as useal for those who already was in  business before legalization. However the quality might be a few classes higher now than before. The Thai weed used to be bull pie around the common Islands.  Couldn't match quality Mexican weed

Price is already 2-5bht/g for the past 3 months .......... how much more do you think prices can plummet?

Lots of places closing. My shop for instance told me business as usual Thursday morning and by Saturday it was closed.

Why is it anyone's business whether I smoke pot or not. Buriram is, and has been for years, well known

for great music festivals where pot is smoke with abandon in public. Are to Bangkok "Karen  Busybodies "

who feel compelled to regulate non-victim crime going to start coming into my home and sticking their collective noses into my private life?

 

I will stick this into my "RFL" file.....(Reasons For Leaving). I love Thailand and have been here LEGALLY for over 15 years and hope to stay longer. However, I have and exit strategy  and advise all farang is to have an exit strategy just in case.

They didn't know that when it closed anymore than I did buying up in bulk using a Thai friend intermediary over the phone and in the store. You do what you think you have to do rather than be sorry afterwards. Unfortunately the flip flopping thai govt makes a mockery of best laid plans.

I don't know but if the supply is as huge as i suspect and if it starts to mold then i would guess it will be sold at whatever price is necessary as most would rather have something than nothing.

 

I am not convinced that in the end the current efforts to decimate an industry will end up being more than a lot of hot air.  Seems to be a lot of that floating around among various "lawmakers" these days.

the way i read it is - don't carry in public, keep it at home, don't sell it, and avoid any rat neighbors knowing you are smoking.

 

basically the same rules we followed before May 2022 lol

 

7-10 plants is a good personal use stash.

 

the majority of the country does not care about this issue. it seems like only grouchy expats living in tourist areas and BKK elites care about what i put into my own body, although they are fine with us drinking hard liquor every night until we black out.
