Rumbling in the Swamp: Quiet Talks Begin to Launch a Viable Third Party in U.S. Politics

3rd parties have never worked - if a 3rd party is created it is highly unlikely to garner support across the political spectrum.  Lets say Elon starts his America Party, it won't get much support from the Democrats (they don't like him) and likely split the Republican voter base guaranteeing a Democrat victory in the elections.

Better to work within the system and take influence/control of either existing party starting at the grass roots level.

Doesn't mean they won't work in the future.  Although unelected at a national level, in the UK the Reform Party did very well in recent local elections.  Remains to be seen if they'll get in at a national level of course, but the latest polling looks interesting.

Might it be matched in the USA?  I tend to agree with you, but having a decent leader might make things a bit closer, Elon is an extremely long way for being suitable.

Yeah, and they said horseless carriages would never replace horses. It is necessary for a true democracy (the two party system has failed miserably!). Whether it's now or in the future - only time will tell.

The timing couldn't be better. The Democrats are too woke and the Republicans are too Trump. Having some commonsense middle path option could be attractive to many who are sick of the extremists - on both sides - pulling the country apart.

What a third party did in 1992 was to have Clinton elected with 40% of the vote. A third party this time could well lead to a Republican victory, because the radical Trump faction is around 35% of the electorate, and there will not be that many Republican office holders defecting to a third party.

G'day, Chief Bird Head. What makes you think analogies are a form of argument?  What are you smoking in your peace pipe?

They said the light bulb would never replace lanterns and candles

They said the internet would never replace newspapers
They said EVs would never replace ICE vehicles

Herp Derp, a 3rd party is necessary for "true democracy"

What the HELL have you been smoking?

Doesn't matter, welcome to the land of "ignore list." Buh bye.

I think a 3rd (new) party is really the only option at this point.  The lefty Democratics are nothing more than a dumpster fire now.  They pushed agendas that very few people could stomach and all they're silly tactics are backfiring.  Hopefully if, if a new party emerges, it will have some common sense, which the current Democratic party seems to have little or none of.
