Not going to worry about it right now since everything is still very much in the air. My hunch is once you know who is tossed out everything will be as before. What if you live in Nakhon Nowhere and have to travel all the day just to buy some?

I have a feeling that once its all sorted, online sales will be allowed from the shops that have onsite Doctors and give prescriptions and cards.

I agree, but for me it's the "up in the air" part that triggered me to act.  At worst, I wasted some time and a bit of money... not something I don't do on the regular already. 😊

That makes too much sense and sounds potentially too efficient. 🤔  Let's just hope it goes that way. I'd be appreciative if the monthly prescription could be done online.

I agree, good just to have the card, whether you actually need it in order to buy cannabis or not. Good to have just in case you ever get questioned by any local authorities so that you can prove that you are a legal user of cannabis for medical reasons.

Sorry to hear that it's not going to be convenient for you.  I'll bet that there will end up being a lot more traditional Thai practitioners in these shops in the future and not many actual doctors. I think it's a numbers game.

why would thy need a dr?
you need the card and a script,  once you have those u can buy form anywhere that follows the law
i was told once it is required, they will require me to send them a copy of my card and script and than they will sell it to me

It’s OK, thanks. I’ve got a few clinic options in Pathumthani, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan, most of them offering video appointments. I’d much rather do it in person though, like you did in Phuket, without any video recording. I’ll wait a bit since this is all still new. I expect more Bangkok clinics will pop up soon as they get their systems and cards set up. Probably within a month or so there will be plenty of convenient walk-in options in Bangkok as well.

Online sale currently don't follow the law, and are illegal. Dosen't mean they don't happen tho. Eventually legal online sales will derive from the weed companies that will Monopolize the industry going forward.

Monopolized is the key word here . Rub out all the smaller farmers and shops first . So I have to travel hundreds of miles to get a card so I can smoke ? Is there going to be a card for booze and cigarettes also ?

To me it all seems pretty easy to get things sorted. Get a one-year medical cannabis user card, buy your weed online in whatever quantity you want, if you take it outside, never carry more than 30 grams with you and always have your card on you when carrying. When the year is up, renew the card and continue on. Seems like pretty minimal hassle. Could be a lot worse.

I found no list.  That would make too much sense. I think the government wants to make it a challenge finding info... like with the tax stuff they came up with recently. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, where are you?  You might try Googling or Chat GPT. I found the place I went to by asking Chat GPT for a list of registered cannabis shops in Phuket Town.  It came back with two spots.  The Greenroom was one and as I had been there before (it's 15 minutes from my home), I then asked,  "Is Greenroom (weed shop) in Phuket Town registered with the Ministry of Public Health for Smart Cards and medical certificates."  It said yes. Then I went to Google Maps to get their telephone number to make sure they had a 'on site' authorized medical person.  I've read that some refer you to a medical clinic not at their shop, thus making everything more tedious and time-consuming. The shop I use had a traditional Thai medicine person who is always there... making it extremely easy.

Hua Hin is the only city near me at the moment that has foreigners. In the north far far from any big foreigner towns. Going to be a pain if a person has to make a monthly trip of hundreds of miles.

To be clear on one point which is often misunderstood. A law proposed by the Thai government is published in the Royal Gazette, the government newspaper. Following publication a further vote  by government is required if the proposed law is to be activated.

The good part about this misfortune is there will be a huge glut of weed when (or I should say if) in Thailand when all the small retail outlets are driven out of business.This should cause an undercut of prices on the black market. It is too late to stop weed consumption by the Government and ,most of us have some seeds now. It was never a problem getting schwag bricks from Cambodia 20 years ago & it still wont be an issue later if the med card does happen.The only difference for stoners is the weed available black market will be much better than the Cambo brick weed of the past.

What makes more sense to me is to get the one-year card that you can show at any time, but then only refill the prescription every couple of months (instead of monthly) to save both money and hassle. If anyone ever questions it, you can simply say you do not get a prescription monthly because you still have supply left from before the law changed.

There are clinics that do it all online with video consultation and postal delivery of documents. Renewals don't require more than sending a LINE message to a clinic and transferring payment. Document will show up in the post 2-3 days later.

Weed prices are stable in Cambodia and cheaper than any retail shop in BKK for equivalent weed.
