A 31-year-old Malaysian tourist was rescued from drowning at Karon Beach on the evening 12 July, thanks to the quick response of lifeguards, fellow beachgoers and rescue volunteers. The man was pulled unconscious from the sea but was successfully resuscitated before being rushed to Chalong Hospital, where he is now in a stable condition.

A fire engulfed a car repair shop, Sompot Services, on Phonprapha Nimit Road (Soi Siam Country Club) on the afternoon of 13 July, destroying eight vehicles and causing damage estimated in the millions of baht. The blaze is believed to have originated from a white Toyota Alphard belonging to a Chinese national, after the wrong type of fuel was added to the vehicle.
