A freight truck driver led police on a wild 100-kilometre chase across six districts in southern Thailand after fleeing a petrol station without paying for diesel.

Police Lt Col Narakorn Eadchuay revealed the pursuit of 22-year-old Pansa Nintham spanned nearly three hours, starting in Na Bon district and ending in Muang district.

Pansa, who hails from Nakhon Si Thammarat, prompted a large-scale response from local police and rescue volunteers when he refuelled and drove off without settling the bill.

Officers from three nearby stations joined the effort, coordinating with rescue teams to track the six-wheel truck through Thung Song, Ron Phibun, Phra Phom, Muang, and Prommakhiri districts. The dramatic chase concluded after police disabled the truck's rear tyre in Muang.

Pansa claimed to suffer from memory loss at the pump and panicked when the police pursued him, mentioning he lacked his driving licence. He was reportedly on a trip from Bangkok to visit friends in Phra Phom.

The driver now faces charges of reckless driving. After a urine test, authorities confirmed Pansa wasn't under the influence of illegal substances, and the truck carried no suspicious items.
