A 14-year-old schoolgirl has died after falling from the seventh floor of a school building in Nonthaburi province in what police are investigating as a possible suicide.

The incident occurred at around 07:00 on 14 July, at a secondary school located in Wat Chalo subdistrict, Bang Kruai district. Police from Bang Kruai Station, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Peeraphon Thongpitak, responded to the scene alongside emergency responders from Bang Kruai Hospital and forensic specialists from the Institute of Forensic Medicine.

CCTV footage captured the victim exiting a lift on the seventh floor at approximately 6:57am.

Her body was discovered lying face-up on a concrete area near the school’s football pitch. She was dressed in her school sports uniform and initial assessments revealed that she died from the impact. There were no signs of assault or missing belongings.

Mr. Wanlop Yimdee, who first found the body, told investigators that he had seen the girl moments earlier standing alone near the seventh-floor balcony. Shortly afterwards, he heard a loud thud and rushed downstairs, where he discovered the girl motionless on the ground.

Further troubling details emerged when one of the deceased’s classmates informed authorities that the girl had sent a farewell message via chat just before the incident. The message reportedly said:

“No matter what happens tomorrow, promise me you won’t be sad.”

Police are continuing their investigation and have yet to determine whether the fall was accidental or deliberate. Officers are interviewing teachers, classmates and close relatives, and are examining CCTV footage and messages on the girl’s mobile phone to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

The school has expressed its condolences and pledged full cooperation with the investigation.
