A 31-year-old Myanmar national died en route to hospital after suffering a severe head injury in a workplace incident at a factory in Samut Prakan’s Bang Phli district. The victim, identified as Mr Ye Aung Kywal Ye Aong Juay, was reportedly conducting maintenance work on a plastic cup moulding machine at a packaging factory in Soi Piamcharoen, Bang Phli Yai subdistrict, when he was struck forcefully on the head by a piece of machinery. According to reports, fellow workers found Mr Ye Aung seated near the machine, bleeding heavily and clutching his head. With no time to spare, colleagues placed him on the back of a motorcycle and attempted to take him to Bangna 5 Hospital. However, the victim lost consciousness and fell off. He was declared dead by emergency responders in the middle of Soi Khajornwit, Moo 3, Bang Phli Yai. Emergency teams from Bang Phli Hospital and the Ruamkatanyu Foundation had performed CPR at the scene for over 30 minutes in heavy rain, but were unable to revive him. Police investigators, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Suntaraporn Jatum of Bang Phli Police Station, were called to the scene at around 20.30 on 13 July. Officers later inspected the factory and discovered two pools of blood in front of the machine and bloodstains along the walkway, as well as tools scattered around the work area. Mr Suriya Phangern 32, a fellow technician, said he did not witness the incident but came upon Mr Ye Aung bleeding profusely and immediately helped transport him out of the factory. Another co-worker, Mr Suphasin Manmai, also 32, stated that the machine had experienced a malfunction earlier in the day. While he was on his way to investigate the issue, he discovered that Mr Ye Aung had already begun repairs and found him injured. Initial investigations suggest that a component of the machine may have fallen and struck the victim on the head during maintenance. Authorities have stated they will review CCTV footage inside the factory to determine the exact cause of the incident and assess any legal responsibility.
