The owner of a PTT petrol station in Thailand is grappling with over 14 million baht in damages after a devastating Cambodian rocket strike. The attack, which tragically claimed eight lives on 24 July, has left Kamolrat Phonsetthalert without a penny from insurers or any clear government aid.

Beset with trauma, Kamolrat has turned to psychiatric help as the reality of the attack unfolds. With the station in Ban Phue, Kantharalak district, shut for at least two months for repairs, she faces mounting uncertainty. Over 50 employees are left in limbo, unsure of their income during this turbulent period.

Kamolrat revealed that while her business had insurance coverage, both policies failed her. One explicitly excludes war damage, while the other offers partial coverage for structural damages.

Frustration mounts as government assistance remains vague, despite a site visit from Deputy Energy Minister Fuangwit Anirutthewa, who promised to propose compensation but delivered no specifics.

Adding to her woes, Kamolrat criticised the authorities' failure to warn of the impending attack ahead of time. The warning system was reportedly activated only in the afternoon, hours after the morning strike.

She urges the government to step in, highlighting the plight of many entrepreneurs facing similar crises due to border hostilities, reported the Bangkok Post.

As the dust settles, the future looks bleak without swift intervention. Kamolrat and others affected await decisions that could rebuild or further burden their businesses.

Pretty standard exclusion for most insurance, if war breaks out you're in the <deleted>.

Cambodia should ultimately be made to pay for this but first the government should step in and help out then settle it with the Cambodians however they see fit - in this case it was an airstrike - but that doesn't pay the bills.
