A 51-year-old woman was found dead in a fish pond in Bang Pakong District, Chachoengsao, on the 2 August under suspicious circumstances. Her husband was found crying beside the body, but signs of a struggle and a startling account from a 5-year-old witness have prompted police to treat the case as a potential homicide.

The discovery was made in Moo 6, Hom Sin Subdistrict. Pol Lt Somprasong Sai-in, investigating officer at Bang Pakong Police Station, arrived at the scene with rescue personnel from Chachoengsao province following a report of a body in a pond.

At the scene, officers found Mr Don 63, weeping beside the pond. Floating in the water nearby was the body of his wife, Mrs Kularb 51. The deceased had a torn eyelid and multiple abrasions on her body. Personal belongings were found scattered inside a nearby hut, with an overturned water jar and signs of disorder.

Suspiciously, the grass surrounding the pond was flattened, and drag marks were observed stretching about 50 metres from the area, suggesting a possible struggle and relocation of the body.

Crucially, a 5-year-old boy, identified as the victim’s grandson, provided chilling testimony. According to the child, he witnessed Mr Don forcibly submerging the victim’s head underwater until she drowned.

Police estimate that Mrs Kularb had been dead for approximately four hours before officers arrived. Mr Don has been taken in for questioning as investigators await autopsy results from a forensic examination. If the child’s account is supported by forensic evidence, legal proceedings will follow.
