Nine defendants, including former Songkhla Provincial Councillor Siradonai Plaiduang, also known as “Sao Golf,” have pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the alleged assault of a police officer at a polling station earlier this year. The Criminal Court has scheduled the first prosecution witness hearing for 7 April 2026.

On 4 August, the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road held a preliminary evidence review in case No. Or.1823/2568, in which the public prosecutor from Criminal Division 8 has brought charges against Mr. Siradonai and eight associates. The charges relate to an incident on 11 May 2025 in which the group allegedly attacked Pol Sgt Nisathit Kongthep while he was on duty at an election polling station in Phawong Subdistrict, Mueang Songkhla District.

All nine defendants were present in Courtroom 709 and were represented by legal counsel. They denied all allegations and were not granted bail and detained further.

The prosecution has submitted a list of 43 witnesses to be called, with some expected to testify via video conference due to travel difficulties from Songkhla province. The defence, meanwhile, intends to present 19 witnesses, including 10 external witnesses and all 9 defendants.

Following the evidence review, the Court set the first hearing for prosecution witnesses on 7 April 2026, and the first hearing for defence witnesses on 5 May 2026. The trial is expected to draw public attention given the involvement of a former elected official and the politically sensitive nature of the incident.
