Immigration Police in Samut Sakhon have arrested a man known by the alias “Dam Wat Tuek”, believed to be the ringleader of a major operation smuggling illegal migrant workers into Thailand. The arrest also uncovered illegal drugs and undocumented foreign nationals allegedly working under his command.

On 5 August, officers from the Samut Sakhon Immigration Bureau raided a commercial building in Maha Chai subdistrict, Mueang District, following a tip-off from local Myanmar migrants. The informants claimed that “Dam”, aged 45, was a key figure in organising the transport and shelter of illegal migrants and was also involved in narcotics distribution.

Upon arrest, authorities discovered 112 methamphetamine pills and four undocumented Myanmar nationals hiding at the property. Further checks revealed that the suspect had multiple outstanding arrest warrants, including for immigration offences and theft.

The suspect now faces multiple charges, including drug possession, aiding and abetting illegal entry into the kingdom and other offences under existing warrants. All detainees have been handed over to investigators at Mueang Samut Sakhon Police Station for legal proceedings.

Authorities say they will continue expanding their investigation into the wider network involved in the smuggling operation.
