Not sure how this will turn out, but at least someone tried. Do we see another TACO appearing at the horizon?

Whitmer told Trump in private that Michigan auto jobs depend on a tariff change of course

WASHINGTON (AP) — Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer met privately in the Oval Office with President Donald Trump to make a case he did not want to hear: the automotive industry he said he wants to save were being hurt by his tariffs.

The Democrat came with a slide deck to make her points in a visual presentation. Just getting the meeting last Tuesday with the Republican president was an achievement for someone viewed as a contender for her party's White House nomination in 2028.

The fact that Whitmer had “an opening to make direct appeals” in private to Trump was unique in this political moment, said Matt Grossman, a Michigan State University politics professor.

Do I understand correctly? The woke, who call Trump an abusive acronym TACO are trying to get Trump to chicken out of his tariffs? Just when you thought their credibility was in a hole they grab a shovel and dig like crazy.

The bold print is copy and paste from the original article, not modified text, but I can understand that this goes over the head of someone with your intellect.

Yeah I forgot you cant fix fonts LOL

Edit: I thought it was better to make the original article headline a little smaller, otherwise a sensitive Cambodian member, will accuse me of using bold text.

Ergo, like Trump, I win again.

Trump is relying on a small group of theoretical economists who are using the US economy to test their economic theories. This is why conservative economists like Powell and others are opposed to some of the extreme tariff strategy. The conservative economists rely on experience and known market realities. The Trump theoretical camp that includes Pete Navarro are of the view of let's try and see what happens, and so what if there is market disruption, it will all wash out.

The biggest problem the USA has is its deficit. It has to come down, and spending capped. Everyone in the USA must accept that they will get less for a few years. That means no tax cuts and even a requirement that the people who are relying on tax loopholes and offshoring of assets, will have to pay tax.  This is of course impossible to do in the USA, and so, the theoretical economists are looking for a quick fix through tariffs. Quick fix never works for critical care crises. They only delay the inevitable.

"Spittlefroth" refers to the frothy, spit-like substance commonly seen on plants and grasses, often in gardens.

Kind of a cool sounding word, use it how you will.

There are no cars in America which are made 100% from US-sourced materials and manufacture. All are dependent on complex global supply chains, which are affected by tariffs to varying degrees.

I suspect trying to explain this to Trump would be like trying to explain Hamiltonian quaternions to a primary school student.

Everything for him is about the Trump presidential reality tv show and his infinite need to feed his narcissism.
