Crime Police Chief Tightens Oversight of Recruitment Exams

The Royal Thai Police Chief has issued a directive to tighten control and supervision of police recruitment examinations across the country to ensure transparency and prevent any form of corruption.

 

On 10 August, Police General Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, instructed Police Lieutenant General Nithithorn Jintakarnon, Commander of the Police Education Bureau, to oversee the recruitment exam for external candidates seeking to join the police force in 2025. The exams, which began at 13:30 on 10 August, are being strictly monitored across all examination centres nationwide to eliminate any chance of malpractice.

 

General Kittirat emphasised that the selection process must be transparent, fair and fully auditable at every stage. Any instances of corruption will be dealt with severely and without exception.

 

In response, Lt. Gen. Nithithorn conducted an inspection and provided guidance at the Thammasat University Rangsit Centre in Pathum Thani province. He also held a briefing for all exam units, reinforcing the importance of upholding anti-corruption measures. The entire examination process was monitored remotely via Zoom from the joint operations command at the university centre.

 

To ensure the safety and welfare of the large number of candidates, all exam centres have been instructed to provide medical staff and first aid stations for emergencies.

 

The recruitment exams are organised by the Police Education Bureau and cover 11 units, including the Police Education Bureau itself, Regional Police Commands 1 through 9, and the Police Forensic Science Office. The exams are open to applicants holding at least a bachelor’s degree or a high school vocational certificate (or equivalent). A total of 155 positions are available for both commissioned and non-commissioned ranks. This year, 65,203 candidates have registered to sit the exams.

 

Lt. Gen. Nithithorn reiterated that the Police Chief has mandated strict supervision to guarantee the exams are conducted with fairness, integrity and transparency. The goal is to select personnel who possess the necessary knowledge, skills and ethics to become professional police officers.

 

The Royal Thai Police reaffirmed their commitment to continuously improve the recruitment process and maintain high standards to ensure that the selected officers will serve with honesty, integrity and dedication to the public.
