This thug should be named, he should be shamed, and he should be called out, and he should be living with that shame and embarrassment for the rest of his days.

Bet he'd sue for defamation of character!

What character are you referring to? Morally bankrupt individuals don't have character, nor a soul.

What to expect within a highly corrupt system ? Most foreigners only see the touristic clichés. When living a bit longer then the 2 week holiday, one get's to see the darker side of things.

A good reminder to be discreet, remain cool and polite, not to flaunt wealth or money and not to consider oneself invincible.

In Thailand a foreigner is far more exposed to crime then the locals. Many will deny the fact....until it hit's them.

Potentially libellous comment removed

Every day is school day, specially in the Land of Smiles.

I - for one - never heard, that any other senate has an "Ethics Committee". The face is more important than the rotten character of the unknown senator. The committee's duty is, most likely, only the possible …. breaching of the “upper chamber’s code of conduct” ……..

What kind of animals lure in the halls of the government of this country; how terrible for country and its people!

And that's precisely why they cherish this country's defamation laws. It's the great enabler of the morally bankrupt and their sociopathic criminality.

I disagree. Thai on Thai crime is far more pervasive and iniquitous than the crimes that foreigners fall victim to.

Prime Minister material!  😄

The politicians don't have to say "Do you know who I am"

The Senate’s ethics committee is now expected to consider whether his actions breach the upper chamber’s code of conduct.

That should take 2 minutes but this is Thailand and he might have a Tomb Raiders Licence

Who says crime doesn't pay....multiple crimes and he is still a politician....go figure....let's blame the defamation laws that kept him where he is...

Not the only one. But certainly at the the top of the list of corrupt countries who usually are third world countries. Until they move forward on controlling corruption they will never move up the ladder.

Do they have inactive duties for Senators like the RTP? I guess they must.

No, the United States does, too.  The highest office in that country is currently held by a convicted felon.

Robbing accident victims living or dead has been standard operating procedure in Thailand for a long time.  Many have complained that their relatives bodies were robbed by the body snatchers or whoever got to the scene of the accident first.  Remember the wholesale robbing of the dead in the Lauda Air crash that was only publicized because some ladies in waiting to the Royal Family were amongst the victims who were robbed after death. Some of the looters, mainly so called rescue workers, lived to regret robbing the wrong corpses because they ended up in prison.  In hotel fires the fire brigade, who are part of the police break open the guests' safety boxes and make off with the contents as a top priority.

I'd reckon this is just about the norm for anybody in a position of power in Thailand.

The cops were probably pissed he got there before them.

More than 4 years since this happpened! Why has it taken so long to bring the matter to court?

We  know the saying “TIT” with all those bizarre headlines. I honestly thought I’d seen it all by now. But no – turns out I was dead wrong. A SENATOR runs over a pedestrian and then goes on to rob the bloody corpse. Arrested? Obviously not. Instead, he’s only facing a potential ethics probe by the Senate. Absolutely ridiculous. Cheers, Thailand – every day is a new lesson. With you lot, literally anything is possible.

Before Covid, a friend of mine was caught at a checkpoint with 5 grams of weed in his car! He was taken for 200k THB and jailed for 3 weeks by the police so what punishment can we expect for thieving valuables from a corpse I wonder?
