Accident American Rider Hits Thai Girl, 13, on Sukhumvit Road

In a troubling incident on Sukhumvit Road near Na Jomtien Temple, a 13-year-old girl was struck by a Yamaha NMAX 155 cc motorcycle on August 13th at around 5:00 p.m. The crash occurred just before the intersection at the Office of the Second Attorney General.

 

The driver, described as a roughly 40-year-old American man, claimed the girl unexpectedly crossed his path, leading to the collision. The impact caused the motorcycle to skid nearly 100 metres along the road, leaving significant damage to its left side.

 

The victim, a first-year Mathayom student at Sattahip Witthayakhom School, suffered a serious right ankle injury, suspected to be broken, along with facial abrasions. Her grandmother provided initial assistance until rescue volunteers arrived. They administered first aid before transporting her to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for further treatment.

 

The Na Jomtien Police, led by Sub-Lt. Arthit Sanpanya, responded promptly to the scene. Officers documented the incident and interviewed the rider, who is set to face legal action regarding the accident.

 

The episode highlights the ongoing concerns about road safety and pedestrian awareness in busy areas like Sukhumvit Road. Authorities are expected to review safety measures and road-crossing protocols to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
