Announced by Mayor Felicito Dula on Wednesday, the decision follows the passing of Resolution 139-2025 by the Municipal Council, which temporarily suspends multiple agencies involved in deceit and misrepresentation. The resolution pointed to serious allegations, including the unauthorised use of images from legitimate local accommodations to mislead visitors, leading to negative guest experiences. Upon further investigation, the Sangguniang Bayan passed Resolution 156-2025, officially implicating tour organiser Rona Shane Laceda Sanchez and her associates. Sanchez has been declared “undesirable” within Sagada’s jurisdiction, and local establishments collaborating with her now face an immediate, indefinite revocation of their permits. Business permits for Bryan Pineda Bonifacio of BOOOK and GOO Travel and Tours, along with Sanchez's Footstep Travel and Tours, have also been suspended, citing their damaging impact on the local tourism sector. Additionally, individuals like Theodore Dangkiw from the Sagada Environmental Tour Guides Organization (SETGO) and Nessey Lodge face a one-month suspension for breaching regulations. Others, such as Najarah Bansao and Pheey Fey Feid Darang of Van South Travel and Tours, have been permanently barred for failing to respond to the complaints or attend scheduled hearings. In light of these actions, the municipality has reminded several operators, including Dinno de Jesus of Biyahe ni Dino and Joycel Sanchez of Sister Travel and Tours, to comply strictly with local tourism rules. Mayor Dula emphasised that while Sagada welcomes tourists contributing positively to the community, it strongly condemns unethical practices. “We want everyone to operate responsibly as businesspersons and community members,” he said. Visitors are encouraged to respect local guidelines and embrace Sagada’s unique culture and hospitality. The crackdown reflects Sagada's commitment to ethical tourism and preserving its community’s well-being, ensuring that guests enjoy an authentic and respectful experience.
