Netanyahu Condemns Palestinian Recognition Amid UN Walkout

last week UN Security Council voted 14 to 1

for immediate cease fire in Gaza and release of all hostages.

Motion failed to  carry

as USA was the 1 veto vote.

Also Isreal holds 1000s of Palastinians in jail without charges.

Hostages .?

If the USA and the other permanent members of the UN Security want to keep the veto, I am all in favour, however it should be a majority veto of 3  or 4 votes from 5.

I was very pleased to see the vast majority of that chamber empty out when Netanyahu walked up to the podium. He deserves the scorn, the humiliation and the position of pariah that he currently has.

  • Was there anyone left in the room to hear Bibi's speech?   Has there ever been a bigger mass walkout at the UN?

  • That was an impressive display of unity against BI BIs slaughter of the Palestinian civilians in my view.do not conflate that statement with some simpathy for hammas I’d be delighted to see all of the

Make sure you email them and let them know. I'm sure they'll be impressed.

Thanks Bill. It sad when we have to ignore people, but as an old Jewish saying goes, to talk to the wall.

I have about 6 pages of ignored posters but that goes back over 20 years. I go through it every 6 months or so and see when the last post was. If it was more than a year ago the poster may simply have quit AN or if they are old like me (I am 81) they may have just died off.

The problem I find is that some posters make so many stupid and useless posts that I can't be bothered to open the thread any more even though there might be something worth reading in there.

OTH they probably thing the same about some of my posts.

Is that a boast or just your inability/wish to read and possibly accept other posters points of view?

Back in 1945 when the UN was founded it was probably not thought necessary.

AI Overview
The five permanent members of the UN Security Council—the United States, China, France, Russia, and the United Kingdom—are the only members with the power to exercise the veto, which allows them to block any substantive resolution from being adopted. They were granted this power due to their significant roles in the establishment of the UN and as a safeguard against forceful intervention against them by other powers.
Here's a breakdown of the P5 members and their relationship with the veto:
The P5: These five countries are the permanent members, also known as the Permanent Five or P5.
How the Veto Works: A negative vote by any of the permanent members can block a non-procedural resolution from passing, even if it receives the necessary number of affirmative votes.
Reasons for the Veto: The veto was conceived to ensure that the UN would not act against the interests of its most powerful members and to promote international stability.
Usage: All five permanent members have used the veto at various times. Russia and the U.S. have used it most frequently, with Russia (as the successor to the USSR) and the U.S. casting the most votes.
Criticism: The veto is controversial, with critics arguing it is an undemocratic feature of the UN and a major cause of inaction on global crises and crimes against humanity.

You recently complained because your posts get little replies .

You complained that your posts get ignored

Maybe thats because when posters DO reply to you, you never respond to them because you re ignoring them ?

Actually very smart of Netenyahoo, dont forget he's no mug he knows exactly how it works in the middle east, long time ago he was part of the team who rescued the hostages in Uganda,

He didn't go to the UN to talk to politicians or to get an applause, he went there to send a message to Iran and Hamas, and to all the European nations who recognize a Palestinian state,

Israel is not afraid to be alone it's happened before, they have fought and won, they will win again,

Starmer cannot turn back now, This will not be forgotten by Israel,

You're right.

Isrealis are the people chosen by God

to exterminate their neighbors.

The Gaza kids are nits that later become terrorists.

Best mow them down.

Doing them a favor actually.

Thanks for showing me the truth.
