More than 20 rescue workers in Nonthaburi carried out a tense and complex operation to safely evacuate a severely ill man weighing over 200 kilograms from the fifth floor of an apartment building. The patient, who had been bedridden for days and unable to eat or move, was suffering from severe breathing difficulties. The dramatic rescue took place on the evening of 18 October 2025, after the Siam Nonthaburi Radio Centre received an urgent call for assistance.

The incident occurred at an eight-storey dormitory in the Bang Krasor area of Mueang District. When rescue personnel arrived, they assessed the patient’s condition and determined that he could not be transported via the building’s elevator due to his size. The team decided to lower him using a steel rescue stretcher and rope system through the internal stairwell.

Rescue staff brought equipment to the seventh floor, installing ropes, pulleys and support gear before moving the patient from his room. Over 20 personnel carefully guided the stretcher down to the ground floor, coordinating closely to maintain stability and monitor the casualty throughout the descent. The entire process took about 30 minutes before the patient was safely transferred to an ambulance bound for Phra Nang Klao Hospital.

Emergency responders said the man, estimated to weigh over 200, was conscious and responsive but extremely weak. He reportedly had pre-existing health conditions, had not eaten for two days and was suffering from shortness of breath and incontinence. The rescue team emphasised the challenge of moving such a heavy patient safely within a confined space while ensuring medical stability.

The operation highlighted the dedication and teamwork of Nonthaburi’s rescue services, who frequently face complex situations. Officials reminded the public to seek early medical attention for bedridden or high-risk individuals to avoid emergencies of this nature.
