A Sri Lankan tourist who accidentally left her Miss Universe crown in a Bangkok taxi has been reunited with it following swift action by Tourist Police. The incident occurred on October 20, when Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2025, Lihasha Lindsay-White, realised she had left her crown and dress inside a taxi after arriving in central Bangkok. She immediately contacted the 1155 Tourist Service Centre to report the loss of her valuable belongings.

Officers from Tourist Police Division 2, together with an interpreter, assisted Ms Lindsay-White in filing an official report at Pathumwan Police Station. The team quickly reviewed CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the taxi involved. Their investigation led them to the driver, Mr Boonchuen Matrakhamchan, who was later found and cooperated fully with authorities.

Within hours, Mr Boonchuen returned the missing crown and dress to Bangkok South Tourist Police Station. The recovery was confirmed by Tourist Police officials, who praised the driver for his honesty and the swift coordination between local police and tourism authorities. The return of the crown ensured that no damage was caused to the valuable items, which hold significant personal and national importance.

Expressing her gratitude, Ms Lindsay-White thanked the officers for their prompt and professional assistance. “I am deeply thankful for the incredible help from the Tourist Police and everyone involved in finding my crown,” she said. The successful outcome highlighted the effectiveness of Thailand’s tourist support network and its ongoing efforts to ensure visitors’ safety and confidence while travelling in the country.

Authorities encouraged all tourists to keep track of their belongings and to use official channels such as the 1155 Tourist Police hotline in case of emergencies. The Tourist Police Division stated it would continue to work closely with visitors to provide assistance and promote trust in Thailand’s hospitality and public services.
