A 31-year-old Tai-Yai man (Shan), identified as Mr. Mu, died from electric shock, on 1 November 2025 at around 22:30, at a construction worker camp in Soi Sridarn 3/4, Samrong Nuea Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Prakan. Authorities discovered his body inside his room, with his clothing changed and face applied with powder according to his cultural tradition, before police were notified. The victim had burn marks on his right arm and the electricity had passed through scaffolding used for supporting lighting in the unfinished building.

Investigations revealed that a wire securing a light bulb to the scaffolding had contacted a electrical joint, causing current to flow through the metal frame. According to a 23-year-old colleague, the victim had been drinking inside with his wife when he returned to his room, accidentally touching the electrified scaffolding. Attempts to revive him with CPR for ten minutes were unsuccessful.

The deceased’s wife reportedly changed his clothes and applied powder to his face before calling authorities, in line with a customary ritual from their hometown. Police have documented the scene and taken photographs and witnesses are being questioned to determine whether the incident was accidental or due to negligence.

The body was handed over to the Poh Teck Tung Foundation for transfer to the forensic institute at Ramathibodi Hospital and Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute for a full autopsy. Authorities emphasised that the investigation would clarify the cause and, if warranted, lead to legal action.
