World Leaders Blast Trump for Climate Stance at COP30 Summit

World leaders have strongly criticised US President Donald Trump for his stance on climate change at the COP30 summit in Belém. Trump, who did not attend the event, has been accused of dismissing climate science and reversing essential policies. Leaders from various countries slammed his perspective, with some labelling him as "against humankind."

The COP30 summit seeks to forge new climate deals focusing on rainforest protection funding. Despite key figures like Trump and leaders from India, Russia, and China being absent, Trump's climate views continue to dominate discussions. Previously, he described climate change as "the greatest con job ever perpetrated" during a UN speech.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva condemned "extremist forces" promoting fake news on climate change. Chile and Colombia's leaders branded Trump a liar, urging nations to disregard his climate policy deviations. Chile's Environment Minister, Maisa Rojas, emphasised the importance of respecting scientific truth, a sentiment echoed by the attending leaders.

Negotiations at COP30 are facing difficulties, as many nations haven't submitted updated carbon reduction plans. UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer voiced concerns about declining political support but reaffirmed the UK's commitment to climate action. However, the UK’s decision to pull out of a $125 billion (£95 billion) rainforest fund surprised many, including Brazilian hosts, reported BBC.

The UK significantly contributed to the design of the fund, which aims to protect rainforests. Lord Zach Goldsmith, formerly an environment minister, expressed frustration over the UK's withdrawal. The Prince of Wales also endorsed the fund, linking it to his Earthshot Prize and encouraging unity among world leaders.

Looking ahead, countries will continue negotiations, focusing on financial aid for regions hit hardest by climate change. Recent global weather events, such as Hurricane Melissa in the Caribbean, highlight the urgent need for climate action. Studies have linked the hurricane's intensified conditions to climate change, underscoring the summit's critical objectives.

Key Takeaways

  • Trump criticised for climate policies as COP30 summit begins.
  • UK withdraws from major rainforest protection fund, sparking surprise.
  • Global leaders emphasise urgency amid recent extreme weather events.

They are right to criticize one of the most ignorant men in the last hundred years.

I am not responsible, I have not contributed to these problems, if they exist at all, and nothing that I do could possibly have an effect on some place as large as the earth or it's vast oceans.

So stop picking on me and stop asking me to take responsibility, because I won't.

Plastic is not harmful and I won't make any attempt to cut down on my use of it.

Gas vehicles are not harmful and therefore I will make no attempt to drive one that consumes less gas, or to use a bicycle, or even a motorbike. I like gas guzzlers, so again I ask all of you to please leave me alone.

Because so-called "climate science" is in fact junk science.

Those who could afford to got to Brazil in private jets.  They have no shame.

South America is contolled by the NWO socialist and therefore many countries oppose Trump. They have to.

Didn't the world leaders consult with Bill Gates before opening their mouths.

Jealous?

I say, what about "clean coal"!

All that beautiful c;ean coal?

Thankyou Webfact for the report. As for the replies on this thread, IMO best described as gormless beyond imagination, though I'm not a 'climate fanatic'.

Trump's attitude to Global warming is typical of his lack of understanding of this, that and everything . . . .

Trump is brave enough to tell the truth when surrounded by liars.

That takes cahonas

If…. Rudyard Kipling.

They most likely did, and didn't take Trump's version of what Gates said as truth.

U.S. President Donald Trump even posted on his Truth Social platform: “I (WE!) just won the War on the Climate Change Hoax. Bill Gates has finally admitted that he was completely WRONG on the issue. It took courage to do so, and for that we are all grateful.”

On Monday, Gates told Axios that Trump’s take was a “giant misreading of the memo.”

And that’s a fair response since he further states in his memo: “To be clear: Climate change is a very important problem. It needs to be solved … Every tenth of a degree of heating that we prevent is hugely beneficial because a stable climate makes it easier to improve people’s lives.”

gates is a clown living in multiple waterside mansions flying around on private jets telling the long suffering users of his trash software to be good little peasants to protect the climate while he destroys it he is a classic leftist elite hypocrite and will be remembered as that and even his wife despises him

woke leftists are despised more every month we have all seen through you and have disdain for you it’s over the right is coming and this is just the start you wait and see

Yes, Trump's position on the environmental crisis is irresponsible. However, he is not the real culprit, just a convenient  target.

India, Russia, and China are the world's worst offenders. Russia's dirty oil and its destruction of the arctic is a hushed up crime. China and its dirty coal and dumping of chemicals is another conveniently ignored crime. And then there is India, which poisons everything that it touches and which enables the Russian dirty oil. All 3 are far worse than the USA.  Yes,  criticize  the USA, but don't be hypocrites and ignore the damage these 3 do.

Amazing post: in this babbling diatribe you include zero facts, zero rebuttals, no discussion at all of the issue. Nothing but foaming ravings of nonsense with veiled threats when you hope to install 4th reich. Pathetic, ignorant and dangerous.  Takes practice.
