Police have arrested a man wanted for the brutal killing of a 49-year-old woman whose body was found bound to a concrete block and submerged in a waterway in Nakhon Pathom. The suspect, identified as Mr. Supachok Srinakhon, 48, a well-known amulet trader from Kamphaeng Saen district, was apprehended on 7 November, in Lao Khwan district, Kanchanaburi, after a dramatic manhunt spanning two provinces.

Officers from Provincial Police Region 7, Bang Len Police Station, Lao Khwan Police Station, and Kanchanaburi Provincial Police launched a coordinated search after tracking down the suspect’s getaway vehicle. The car was discovered crashed into a roadside ditch between Moo 10 and Moo 4, Nong Pling subdistrict, near a village water reservoir. Supachok reportedly abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot through nearby sugarcane and cassava fields. Police surrounded the area and successfully captured him following an extensive search operation.

The arrest follows the discovery of the body of Ms. Sakulrat Kamwilas, also known as “Jan,” a resident of Samut Sakhon, on 5 November. Her remains were found floating in a Metropolitan Waterworks Authority canal in Moo 6, Bang Len district, with her neck tied with electrical wire and her body weighted down with a concrete block. An arrest warrant had been issued by the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Court (No. จ.1268/2568) charging Supachok with murder and concealing a body to hide the cause of death (Criminal Case No. 770/2568).

He told investigators that before the murder, his wife discovered his extramarital affair with the victim. He then contacted the woman and asked to meet to discuss the situation. When she drove to his home, he feared that an argument might draw attention from neighbours, so he suggested talking at a nearby petrol station.

On the way, the pair stopped at a sugarcane field about one kilometre from his house, where they continued their heated discussion. The argument quickly escalated and in a fit of rage, the man used an electrical cord to strangle the victim to death. He then removed a 3-baht-weight gold bracelet and a 2-baht-weight gold necklace from her body before leaving the corpse in the field and returning home as though nothing had happened.

Later, overcome by fear of discovery, the suspect returned to the scene and decided to hide the body. He tied a concrete block from his house to the victim’s body and dumped them into a waterworks canal in an effort to prevent identification and arrest.

When news reports surfaced about the discovery of a woman’s body, the man fled to stay with a friend in Uthai Thani Province. However, while driving through Lao Khwan District, he noticed a police vehicle following him and attempted to escape. His car crashed during the pursuit, and though he tried to flee on foot into nearby woodland, officers quickly surrounded and arrested him.

Police have charged the man with murder and concealing a body to avoid arrest. Authorities said further investigation is underway to identify and prosecute any accomplices or individuals who may have helped the suspect evade capture.
