The Royal Thai Police have deployed 200 crowd control officers in Sa Kaeo province to reinforce army units safeguarding the Thai-Cambodian border amid heightened tensions. The deployment, announced on 13 November 2025, follows recent military exchanges along the frontier, which the Royal Thai Army confirmed were carried out in line with rules of engagement, warning, and self-defence protocols.

Police spokesperson Pol Lt Gen Chaitpol Suwannarak, Assistant Commissioner-General and Deputy Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Police, said national police chief Pol Gen Kittirat Phanphet and his deputy Pol Gen Samran Nualma, responsible for security affairs, have ordered all police units to be ready to assist the army in defending Thailand’s sovereignty whenever required. The focus, he said, is to protect communities and ensure public confidence in border security.

O the morning of 13 November, Sa Kaeo Provincial Police led by Pol Col Chaturaphat Singhachit, deputy provincial commander, mobilised the crowd control company in a formal send-off ceremony. The officers, more than 200 in total, assembled to salute the national flag, recite the police oath and affirm their mission before inspection of personnel and equipment. Commanders present included Pol Col Damrong Iampairoj, chief of investigation; Pol Col Chuchart Khongmuang, chief of Aranyaprathet Police Station and Pol Col Sutthiphong Intasit, chief of Khok Sung Police Station.

The officers will operate along the border areas of Ban Nong Ya Kaeo and Ban Nong Chan in Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo, ready to maintain order and assist military operations upon request. Their duties include securing rear positions and supporting “Operation Protect the Hinterland,” a joint mission to uphold peace and stability in the region.

Lt Gen Chaitpol said the police chief has sent words of encouragement to all participating officers, stressing discipline, courage, and safety as top priorities, reported Komchadluek. Commanders were urged to lead by example, ensuring both public and officer safety during the mission. He reminded all personnel that this deployment is a vital national duty to protect Thailand’s borders and maintain the peace of local communities.
