Police in Pattaya have detained 12 Chinese tourists and 20 Vietnamese women following a pre-dawn raid on a Pattaya nightclub, in an operation that raised concerns among reporters after authorities barred media from documenting the scene. The raid took place at 03.05 on 16 November 2025, when Pol Maj Gen Thitawat Suriyachai, Deputy Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, led combined investigative teams into Chinese owned Club Pattaya on Soi Third Road. Officers reported finding urine samples turning purple, plastic zip-lock sachets containing a ketamine-like substance and multiple foreign nationals allegedly working without permits.

The police operation involved officers from the Region 2 Investigation Division, Chonburi Provincial Investigation Police, Pattaya Police, and Chonburi Immigration. Upon arrival, they sealed all entrances and exits and prevented journalists from entering, leaving reporters to monitor events from outside. After approximately two hours, around 200 patrons, mostly Chinese tourists, were released, along with several Thai women.

Authorities had detained 12 Chinese nationals whose urine reportedly showed a purple reaction, suggesting suspected drug use. Another 20 Vietnamese women were taken into immigration custody after failing to produce valid work documentation. Officers also collected several discarded zip-lock bags containing powder resembling ketamine, which were scattered on the venue’s floor and kept as evidence.

The restriction on media access drew confusion from reporters, who questioned why information and visuals were withheld during what is typically a transparent entertainment-venue inspection. The apparent withholding of details raised concerns about possible undisclosed issues inside the premises. Police have so far provided only brief statements at the scene, prompting expectations for a fuller explanation.

SiamChon reported that authorities are expected to deliver an official briefing once the arresting team finalises evidence, testing results and immigration checks. The public will be awaiting clarification regarding the substances found, the status of the detained individuals and the rationale behind the unusually tight media restrictions.

• Media were barred from entering the venue, raising questions about transparency during the operation.

• Evidence collected included multiple zip-lock bags containing a powder resembling ketamine found on the club floor.

Thai Police detaining tourists having fun.

That's the only "need to know" when one chooses a holiday destination.

Really? When did Ketamine become a fun chemical, and not deadly? Apparently, Mathew Perry did not get the memo.

Thailand does not need nor want the Chinese ketamine labs and dealers.

Can't be upsetting the Chinese might upset the Chinese tourism.

Pattaya is the wrong place doing hard drugs,  Frankfurt is much better, you can even inject that Sh.it near a police man they don`t give a damn.

......and why should they ? it`s YOUR body,  YOUR health , YOUR future - you can do whatever you want with it.

Would the "service industry" cover it...

Any mention of the management/owners of the club... what will happen to them.

And how about padlocking up the joint for 5 years.... that rarely happens anymore.

...and don't expect taxpayers to fund your medical treatment or rehabilitation from drug abuse ..whatever country you're in. Seen the streets in USA lately? ..where junkies gorge on cheap Chinese drugs ...

Take responsibility, for your health and your children's future.

Then the addicts, who steal, mug, shoplift and hang around in town centres, urinating in the streets should do the non addicts a favour and take their presence somewhere else... some people need help and restricting access to drugs is an attempt to keep them away from their weaknesses.

More Chinese takeaway !!

They are dancers and escorts just showing people a good time.  Hopefully it was all a clerical error and they will get their Non-B visa soon.

Scrutinizing the RTP, very good.

How strange!  It's almost like the police were reluctant to be shown working.

Ketamine is an anesthetic which has antidepressant effects, as such it is as addictive as most other illicit drugs. It has approval in the US for treatment of drug and treatment resistant depression, which I have.

Add dope shops everywhere and then Russians fill up the place =mafia +Chinese Methamphetamine joined together with local gangs, one big family without any control, I would hazard a guess the white powder was coke probably cut to hell and police might have been tipped off that maybe there was possibly a worse ending than shutting it down, it's already happened b4 and fentanyl and other drugs are spreading all over Thailand

Now the ice cream is going to be put on the cake, grow morphine and turn Thailand into little Cuba.

You think Tony is bad?

Chinese have no interest in Ketamine if any, only used to cut other drugs, meth is their trade and the police have only to look at NZ and Australia to see what a mess they are making of society, murder everyday now in NZ and meth and coke everywhere ever since the idiot government were told by Hong Kong British police that they would vet the chinese mafia from coming to Nz, they said it won't happen but now they have joined with the bike gangs and NZ is full of labs and murder happens every day, never seen when I grew up only a bit of smoke mostly home grown.
