Rahmanullah Lakanwal, linked to the CIA in Afghanistan, is accused of shooting two National Guard members only steps from the White House. The brutal attack left Sarah Beckstrom and Andrew Wolfe critically injured. Officials revealed Lakanwal's CIA association in a shocking twist, as he moved to the US under a special immigration program after America's Afghan withdrawal.

Lakanwal arrived in the US in 2021 through Operation Allies Welcome, a program that helped around 77,000 Afghans. This was part of a broader response after the Taliban recaptured Afghanistan. The attack occurred near Farragut Square, with Lakanwal allegedly targeting the troops in a calculated ambush.

Lakanwal, considered a trusted partner by the US forces, served with the Kandahar Strike Force, also known as Scorpion Forces. He was relocated from Kandahar to Kabul just before the Taliban's ascent, playing a key role in airport protection. His immigration is now scrutinised following accusations of a premeditated assault on US soil.

With Lakanwal in custody and facing serious charges, officials are probing his vetting process before arrival. Asylum granted to him this year, as well as a pending green card request, is under review. National attention is now focused on his motives and prior associations, reported the BBC.

US President has halted Afghan immigration requests and plans to review green card approvals comprehensively. This move signals a stringent overhaul of current immigration practices focusing on national security. An additional 500 National Guard troops have deployed in Washington amid heightened tensions to provide public reassurance.

Key Takeaways

  • Rahmanullah Lakanwal, ex-CIA associate, accused of attack near White House.
  • His immigration path and CIA ties are now under intense scrutiny.
  • The US has suspended Afghan immigration applications following the incident.

Rest in peace.

A rather tactless comment in the circumstances.

Not really if you don't only think about your own but also about what you have inflicted in other countries. The culprit being from that country while working for the CIA.

A young lady was shot dead. That is sad in any country, anywhere.

Agreed that she shouldn't have been shot.

She also shouldn't have been on patrol in DC.

If trumps stupid vainglorious moves hadn't put her there she would still be alive.

We all know why in this case they are getting more worked up compared to the others.

It was really. That mentality is it’s okay that she was killed because others have died elsewhere. All that belongs in a different thread. Got nothing to do with her.

Never said it was ok that she is killed. Her killer was a Afghan soldier, so it has something to do with it.
