A Thai ladyboy has lodged a complaint against a karaoke bar owner in Trat province, claiming underpayment of wages. Peerapong, a 25-year-old ladyboy, reported receiving 100 baht per day instead of the promised 120 baht. Mueang Trat Police Station officers intervened, but the bar owner refused to cooperate, closing the door on the officers and declining mediation efforts.

Peerapong had moved from Chanthaburi to work at the karaoke bar located near Sra See Siat Reservoir. Her job involved entertaining customers, with an agreement for a daily wage of 120 baht plus a share in drink sales. A conflict arose when she received a 100-baht tip from a satisfied customer, prompting the bar owner to allegedly confiscate the tip and subsequently terminate her employment.

The owner reportedly became upset, demanded Peerapong focus on drink sales, and then dismissed her, withholding her belongings. Peerapong claims the compensation was consistently lower than agreed. After failing to resolve the dispute at the venue, police accompanied Peerapong to formally file her complaint and advised her to return home while legal procedures unfold.

The bar owner later used Facebook to refute the allegations, suggesting Peerapong had mental health issues and a history of drug use. She admitted to not meeting minimum wage standards but argued that free food and accommodation were provided as compensation. The owner claimed Peerapong's complaint had been withdrawn, though police have not confirmed this, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • Peerapong alleges underpayment and unfair dismissal by the bar owner.
  • The owner disputes the claims, citing mental health and drug use issues.
  • Legal proceedings are pending, with police yet to confirm complaint withdrawal.
