Is High Quality (like In The Usa Or England) Internet Available In Thailand?

Featured Replies

ADSL is not fast or reliable enough for what I do. I can't seem to find anything faster/more reliable on Koh Samui? Does it exist here? If not does it exist in Bangkok? Can I have the names of some companies?

I need something powerful enough to run a remote desktop running 8 or so applications in real time.

Keep Dreaming!

:o

I mean, it seems like it has to exist at least theoretically in Bangkok. There is a Thai stock exchange+other international trade boards. Do major corporations in thailand just make all their executives wait 10 seconds whenever they open a new website?

Any other opinions or am I really screwed here?

dedicated access is available , in theory ,

how many zero's can you write per month ??

I'd pay up to 40,000 baht per month. Would obviously prefer to pay a lot less than that.

believe your in the ball park , stick around there are people here who know the details .

CAT has an office in Narthon , as does TOT , True is up the back of Maenam .

You can get quality if you don't mind paying for it. They have some sort of corporate private line thingy, I'm sure it's less than 40,000 so you should be ok. I tried the most expensive home line (2400 baht a month) and torrent downloads were faster than what I got in Canada, Could get a gigabyte in a couple of hours. Although I didnt pay for the highest quality internet in Canada but it was still about 1500 baht.

I wasn't making fun of you but my and many others experiences here so far have been quite bumpy, hence the little laughing guy rolling on the floor whan I saw your question . Maintenance is often done live with no redundant systems and the users must suffer the consequences. DNS is often a problem. Modem has to be rebooted for periods of time, etc. My downloads are back to normal, 103kB/sec but it was awful for a while, dialup speed.

For example, I wrote the following tonight in another thread.

Mine, TOT, was down for a while. Tech came and saw my line split without a splitter.

I turned around for a minute and he had fled.... :oohmy.gif

He came a second time , I had installed a splitter to please him and had replaced all of the wiring (3 yr old only) with new wiring. But he then said I did not have the filter installed. I explained there was a lot of crackling on the line even though I had replaced the wiring and that there must be a problem with the external line or at the exchange. No dial tone at times but the line came to life if I used my cell phone to call the home number... :D

I turned around for a minute and he had fled... :bah: :bah:

He came a third time and I crushed the filter with my foot to get my point across, phone unplugged. Still, there was no dial tone at times on the phone but there was when he came.

Again he insisted on the filter. I insisted on the external line or exchange problem to which he replied that he must then be stupid since he is only a "technician" :D

I turned around for a minute and he had fled.... :o;):D

Then we lost the dial tone for 4 days. No phone, no net. The wife got a follow-up call from TOT and overheard the techs radio in the background saying there were 4 lines damaged at the exchange. :o

I will confirm with the tech about his stupidity if he ever shows up again. :D

A month before that we had been disconnected for the second time in a year because of their automatic payment system that failed. They dared asked for reconnection fees both times.
