Clashes along the Thai–Cambodian border have led to the closure of 641 schools across five provinces in Thailand. Following outbreaks of violence since December 7, Education Minister Narumon Pinyosinwat announced evacuations in Surin, Si Sa Ket, Ubon Ratchathani, Buri Ram, and Sa Kaeo to ensure safety. Schools are closed temporarily, with plans for resuming on-site classes pending the stabilization of the situation.

These clashes prompted the Education Ministry to act decisively, coordinating with local offices to suspend on-site education. Narumon instructed the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) to manage the situation and emphasize safety for students and staff. Schools in affected provinces have been ordered to implement strict safety measures.

Expert reactions highlight the ministry's proactive steps to protect educational communities. The closure affects 641 schools, impacting a significant number of students and teachers. Narumon reassures that contingency plans are in place, including the possibility of shifting to online learning if necessary.

As the situation unfolds, the focus remains on monitoring developments closely. The Education Ministry aims to quickly restore normal teaching operations once the border tensions subside. The safety of educational communities continues to drive all decisions in handling this emergency, reported The Nation.
