Four hospitals along the Thai-Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo Province have suspended non-emergency services due to escalating unrest. The Sa Kaeo Provincial Public Health Office issued a directive today, halting operations for routine care at Ta Phraya, Khok Sung, Aranyaprathet, and Khlong Hat hospitals. This move aims to prioritize critical and life-threatening cases during the ongoing instability.

The situation unfolded after increasing security concerns prompted immediate action to preserve healthcare resources for emergencies. The affected hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 Accident and Emergency Department services to handle urgent and severe medical cases. Normal services will resume only when stability returns to the region.

Authorities have not disclosed when operations might recommence, emphasizing the need for a stable security environment as a prerequisite. Experts describe the closure as a necessary, though disruptive, measure that underscores the severity of local tensions. Medical professionals and local authorities are closely monitoring developments.

The regional health office urges the public to seek alternative medical care where possible and assures that emergency protocols are firmly in place. Looking forward, officials are working to assess the situation daily and will adjust the hospital services accordingly, reported The Nation.

Key Takeaways

  • Four hospitals in Sa Kaeo have suspended non-emergency services due to unrest.
