Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul reaffirmed the government’s uncompromising stance against corruption during the national observance of International Anti-Corruption Day on 9 December. Speaking at the “HERO OF THE TRUTH: Unite Against Corruption” event, he declared that the administration would not hesitate, compromise, or show leniency toward anyone who undermines national interests through corrupt acts. The event brought together senior officials, anti-corruption bodies, international representatives and civil society partners to demonstrate a united front.

Anutin highlighted that the UN designates 9 December each year to reinforce global commitment to eliminating corruption, a problem he said erodes public trust, destroys development opportunities, and reduces citizens’ quality of life. He noted that Thailand’s transparency challenges have affected both public confidence and investor sentiment. Citing the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), he pointed out Denmark’s score of 90 as the world’s highest, Singapore’s 84 as first in Asia-Pacific and third globally, while Thailand scored 34, ranking 107th worldwide.

The prime minister emphasised that Thailand must not only “fix” but “elevate” its transparency standards in a tangible way. He said improved CPI rankings are not the sole goal; the broader aim is to build a public sector grounded in good governance and accountability. This, he added, will strengthen Thailand’s political, economic, and social foundations and boost confidence domestically and internationally.

To support this effort, Anutin issued four urgent policies. First, all agencies must reinforce preventive anti-corruption measures, particularly for high-budget projects, and ensure rigorous internal audits that deliver real results. Second, digital tools must be adopted to streamline public services, reduce bureaucratic steps, expand e-services and one-stop platforms, and increase transparency by limiting discretionary authority and improving access to government data. Third, laws must be enforced strictly and equally, with no immunity for offenders; those who act with integrity will receive protection and support. Fourth, ethical values and transparency must be strengthened through education, public participation, media oversight, and robust whistleblower protections.

Anutin stressed that combating corruption requires collaboration across all sectors, including the NACC, AMLO, security agencies, government units, private organisations and civil society. He instructed all agencies to develop action plans that directly contribute to raising Thailand’s CPI score, with progress monitored regularly. The shared ambition, he said, is a transparent, credible, and secure Thailand for future generations.

Komchadluek reported that the prime minister concluded by thanking all sectors for their commitment and encouraged public resolve under the slogan “Don’t do it, don’t tolerate it, don’t ignore it.” He then led participants in reciting his formal declaration of integrity before unveiling the event’s anti-corruption emblem as a symbol of unified determination to combat all forms of corruption.

You only encourage corruption by paying what is asked. Knowing full well there is no charge.

I don't have to pay since as I reported them, but the rest do, one even came to my house trying to intimidate me, I even refused to pay when I was asked, if they could not give me a receipt, thing said were, " We have air con., well take the ferry to Trat, it's a 'Service point' They all still work there and rake in thousands Every Day ! most are scared of immigration so pay up, I am not, they are public servants IMO. 1178 is a waste of time IMO sack them too !

The only other place is Trat, so pay the ferry about 400+b return plus fuel, However I do my annual extension there as that's where my bank is, nice friendly staff, who fill out the forms for me, tell me to come back an hour later, and all I have to do is sign everything., so they have to come over on the ferry to do the house visit,  ..  go figure that.

In fact it is total BS.
