A man was injured in Phang Nga in the early hours of 9 December 2025 after a firearm discharged during a drinking session between two men. Police were alerted at approximately 01.30 when the Muang Phang Nga Police Radio Centre received a report of a gunshot injury at a residence on Charoen Rat Road in Tha Chang subdistrict, Muang Phang Nga district. Emergency responders transported the injured man to Phang Nga Hospital for urgent treatment.

The incident occurred when two men, who had been drinking together, began handling a firearm in a playful and reckless manner. During this, the gun discharged, causing injuries to one of the men. The exact house number was not disclosed, but the location was identified as a private residence on Charoen Rat Road.

Upon receiving the report, Pol Col Weeraphong Rakkhito, Superintendent of Muang Phang Nga Police Station, led the response team. He was joined by Pol Lt Col Uthai Phet-arporn, Deputy Superintendent for Investigation, Pol Lt Col Pairat Pongpamon, Inspector of Patrol, and Pol Lt Pattanachai Chuchuay. Patrol and investigative units were also deployed to secure the scene and ensure no further danger remained.

Officers coordinated with rescue personnel to provide immediate medical assistance and transfer the injured individual to hospital. Police secured the weapon involved and detained the man responsible for the discharge at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect and the firearm have been transferred to investigators at Muang Phang Nga Police Station. Further legal action will proceed in accordance with relevant laws. Police also noted that the investigation will include determining whether additional charges related to firearm misuse or negligence may apply.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about alcohol-related incidents involving firearms, an issue that local authorities have previously warned against. No further injuries were reported, and police have not released additional details on the condition of the injured man.
