My Aussie passport expires in June next year, but my retirement visa is normally from July to July, so when I do my next visa renewal in July this year, will it be only issued to June when my passport expires, so I will only get 11 months not 12?

Yes.

Having stated that you would be crazy not to renew your Oz pp now.

Its all done online and posted application.

You keep your existing pp.

My Oz pp was done a year ago and the process took 20 days from going to post office till new pp landed at my Bangkok condo.

If I renew my passport now I will lose nearly 18 months off the old passport. As an Aussie passport costs the best part of $500 now I'd like to get the maximum use out of it. I don't mean waiting until the last minute, but maybe in April or May would still leave plenty of time.

I'm still on 2025 time.

Mistake thought you meant June 2026 is current pp expiry

You can always transfer your visa from an old to new passport. Also you don’t want to be traveling outside your home country with less than 6 months on your passport.

My Oz passport expires in 12 months; my "retirement" visa expires in 6 months; I am in the process of getting a new Oz passport now (hopefully it will arrive by month's end).
