January 13Jan 13 Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) has unveiled a strategy to boost flight activity during the high travel season. The initiative involves discounts on service fees and other benefits for airlines that resume flights in previously cancelled slots. This move aims to increase passenger numbers and minimise revenue losses at AOT’s six major airports, including Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang. An airport slot grants airlines specific take-off and landing rights, and these can be highly valuable. A notable slot was once sold for $75 million. The latest measure was approved by AOT on 24 December 2025 and is in effect from 1 January to 28 March 2026. It is expected to significantly raise the number of international flights and passenger traffic. This initiative is forecasted to boost tourism, employment, and national revenue. AOT’s director-general, Ms. Paweena Jariyathitipong, mentioned that this aligns with AOT’s goal to enhance its contribution to the Thai economy through sustainable aviation practices. In the fiscal year 2025, AOT recorded total revenue of 33.047 billion baht from aviation, showing a 6.6% increase. The total revenue was reported at 68.586 billion baht with a net profit of 18.125 billion baht, handling 788,095 flights, an increase of 7.56%. The number of passengers served reached nearly 126 million, marking a 5.61% rise.AOT continues to improve services under its "World Class Hospitality" concept, upgrading technology and safety features.
