A Myanmar national was left critically injured after being attacked by a group of fellow Myanmar workers in the early hours of 13 January 2026 on King Kaew Road in Samut Prakan province. The victim was assaulted by three men near the entrance to Soi King Kaew 41 in Racha Thewa subdistrict, Bang Phli district, with the incident occurring in front of his girlfriend. He suffered severe injuries after being repeatedly beaten and slashed with a knife, prompting an urgent police investigation.

According to police and initial investigations, the incident took place late at night after the suspects had been drinking alcohol. The attackers and the victim are all Myanmar nationals, with the motive believed to be jealousy over a woman whom both parties had been courting. The injured man was reportedly not a worker in the immediate area, but was employed in the Bang Pu area of Samut Prakan.

CCTV footage from the vicinity shows the victim attempting to flee and seek help inside a convenience store. He was followed by several assailants who forcibly dragged him back out in front of the shop, before punching and kicking him until he collapsed in the car park. At least two of the attackers then used a cleaver-style knife to strike the victim repeatedly while he was defenceless, as his girlfriend pleaded for his life.

Pol Col Phisut Chanthasuwan, Superintendent of Bang Kaew Police Station, said he had ordered investigators to review CCTV footage and conduct witness interviews. Police identified the three suspects as Myanmar migrant workers believed to be living and working nearby. Investigators found that the suspects had ridden motorcycles to drink at an Isan restaurant before walking to the scene, where they allegedly attacked the victim while intoxicated.

Police stated that the violent confrontation stemmed from personal jealousy rather than a wider dispute. The brutality of the attack, carried out in a public place and captured on camera, has raised concerns about public safety in the area and the risks associated with alcohol-fuelled violence. Officers are continuing to gather evidence and track the movements of the suspects following the assault.

Kaoded reported that authorities have confirmed that a manhunt is under way to locate and arrest all three suspects. Police say they are confident the CCTV footage and witness accounts will help lead to swift arrests. Once detained, the suspects will be charged and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
