Police are investigating the killing of two women after their nephew surrendered and confessed to the crime, leading officers to recover bodies from an abandoned groundwater well in Lopburi province. The suspect told police he killed his aunt and another female relative before transporting their bodies across provincial boundaries in an attempt to conceal the crime. The case has drawn public attention due to its violent nature and the circumstances surrounding the confession.

The suspect, Mr Kittikinwenu, aged 28, reported himself to police on 15 January 2026, accompanied by his lawyer, at Phatthana Nikhom Police Station in Lopburi. He told investigators that the killings occurred on 2 January 2026 in Moo 13, Phra Phutthabat district, Saraburi province. According to his statement, the bodies were later dumped in a disused artesian well on land belonging to his grandparents in Moo 3, Phatthana Nikhom district, Lopburi.

Police informed Lopburi provincial commander Pol Maj Gen Yanyong Santipreechawat and station superintendent Pol Col Chaimit Sitthiphun before deploying investigators, forensic officers, doctors from Phatthana Nikhom Hospital and rescue volunteers to the site. The well, located in a wooded area beside a public road, was around five metres deep with an opening approximately 1.8 metres wide. Officers found evidence that gravel had been poured into the well to conceal the bodies.

The suspect told police that the victims were his aunt, Ms Phanomphon, aged 64, and another relative Ms Wiraporn, aged 61. He claimed he was angered by their alleged treatment of his grandmother, who was bedridden and seriously ill. He said he had repeatedly asked to take his grandmother into his own care but was opposed by the two women.

On the evening of 2 January 2026 at around 8pm, the suspect said he visited the house and saw bruises on his grandmother’s body. He said an argument escalated into violence, during which he claimed he strangled and covered the women’s mouths and noses until they died. He then placed the bodies in a Toyota saloon car with registration plate from Sing Buri, dumped them in the well, abandoned the car in Hat Yai district, Songkhla province, and fled to Malaysia.

The suspect later contacted family members, including his father Mr Somsak, who told police his son loved his grandmother deeply and acted out of resentment over her injuries. Overcome with fear and guilt, the suspect returned and surrendered to police, fully confessing. Rescue teams have recovered one body so far, while efforts to retrieve the second continue after debris and stones collapsed into the well, causing one rescuer to be injured and require hospital treatment.

Khoasod reported that investigators said forensic examinations and further questioning will continue to confirm the precise cause of death and prepare the case for prosecution. Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the recovered body and said the investigation remains ongoing.
