Iranian Forces Storm Hospital, Shoot Wounded Protesters And Staff

Iran Hospital attack.jpg

Iranian security forces have been accused of launching a violent raid on a hospital treating wounded protesters, firing live ammunition and tear gas inside the building and attacking doctors, nurses, patients — and even children.

According to multiple reports and viral footage, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) units stormed Imam Khomeini Hospital in the Kurdish-majority province of Ilam on January 4, after protesters injured by gunfire sought treatment there.

Videos circulating online show security forces shooting at demonstrators outside the hospital before forcing their way inside, where tear gas and gunfire were reportedly used in wards filled with wounded civilians.

A nurse who witnessed the raid told DW that the hospital was treating more than 40 protesters who had been shot when security forces arrived.

“We knew they were coming to arrest the wounded or record their identities,” the nurse said. “People gathered at the entrance to stop them.”

She added that the hospital was critically short of blood, prompting desperate appeals on social media for donors — but security forces blocked donors from reaching the facility.

Human rights groups say the siege lasted more than 24 hours, with patients and medical staff injured during the assault. Witnesses claim at least 11 wounded protesters were dragged away by the IRGC, while five others were left shackled to their hospital beds.

The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights confirmed reports that Iranian forces raided the hospital, deploying tear gas and beating patients and medical personnel — a direct violation of international humanitarian law.

The World Medical Association condemned the attack as an assault on medical neutrality.

“Turning hospitals into sites of enforcement is an unacceptable violation,” said WMA President Dr Jacqueline Kitulu, demanding Iran immediately halt intimidation of healthcare workers.

The raid comes amid a brutal nationwide crackdown that has left more than 2,600 people dead and nearly 17,000 arrested since protests erupted in late December.

Key Takeaways

  • Hospitals turned into battlegrounds: Iranian forces stormed a hospital, firing weapons and tear gas inside.

  • Wounded protesters targeted: Patients were arrested, shackled, or dragged away from hospital beds.

  • Global outrage growing: UN and medical bodies say Iran has violated humanitarian law and medical neutrality.

You put up a post on the Iran demonstrations. If I agree I'll comment or reply. I have different fish to fry, that's all.

I abhor violence in any form, esp against civilians exercising freedom to dissent, whether Iran, IDF or Hamas. When the people speak, govts should listen. And in all three of those cases. That's called self-determination.

Why cant you just talk about Iran ?

Why the need to mention the IDF when talking about terrorists groups ?

You are defending Iran and Hezbollah by comparing them to legitimate army

I would ask the opposite question: Why do you support atrocities when they are committed by your fellow Jews, but you oppose them when they are committed by Iranians? Both are wrong.

Now stop that .

You know what I mean .

Unless you remove it or post it again with it gone then we will not be able to have a conversation .

Now, would you like to repost your question like this :

I would ask the opposite question: Why do you support atrocities when they are committed Israelis , but you oppose them when they are committed by Iranians? Both are wrong.

If not, then there wont be a discussion

If I say that atrocities are being committed by Israelis, that would lump all Israelis together, including Israeli Palestinians and Israeli Christians. But I'm pretty sure that it's just the Israeli Jews who are slaughtering the Palestinians. Or do you see things differently?

Are you going to reword or remove your question or not ?

Dialogue cannot continue until you do so
