Dream Trip Turns Nightmare For Thai Tourists on  China Tour

A Thai woman has shared her experience of what she described as a “tour from hell” after purchasing a package tour to China that resulted in severe disruption, financial loss and distress for her entire group. The trip, intended as a holiday, instead became a major ordeal affecting 16 travellers, including children and elderly people and costing nearly 700,000 baht with little of the promised service delivered.

The incident was made public on 18 January 2026 when Facebook user Chonchanok Naka posted a detailed warning to others after returning from the trip. She said the tour failed to meet agreed conditions from the outset and caused significant hardship throughout the journey, prompting her to file a police complaint after returning to Thailand.

According to her account, problems began even before departure, when the tour company claimed there was an error with airline tickets. The company allegedly demanded an additional 200,000 baht in advance to resolve the issue, promising to refund the money within three days, but the refund was never made.

The group travelled without a tour guide, with the company stating that it had not issued a ticket for the guide to join them. Flight tickets were issued separately, forcing the group to travel on different routes, including a connection with only one hour to transfer, which led to missed flights.

As a result, the group had to purchase new tickets themselves to travel from Beijing to Harbin. Upon arrival in China, they were informed that return tickets to Thailand had not been issued, forcing them to repeatedly demand confirmation of their return flights throughout the trip.

Further issues arose with accommodation, transport and scheduled activities, as payments had not been made in advance by the tour company. Hotels refused check-in, vehicles would not depart for trips and several planned attractions could not be accessed, leaving the group stranded at multiple locations.

In one instance, children were reportedly forced to sleep in a hotel corridor after the hotel declined accommodation due to non-payment. The woman said the experience caused emotional distress and disrupted the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable members of the group.

Khoasod reported that authorities have not released further details, but the complainant confirmed she has formally reported the matter to police. Her post has since circulated widely online as a warning to travellers to carefully verify tour operators before making large payments.
