A suspect wanted in a major cybercrime case involving attacks on Thai government websites was arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Saturday, 17 January 2026, as she returned to Thailand from Cambodia. The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) said the arrest disrupted an alleged scheme that redirected official government websites to online gambling platforms, preventing normal public access to state services.

At around 13:00, officers from the DSI’s Surveillance and Intelligence Centre detained Ms Jessada at the airport in Samut Prakan province. Shee was arrested under an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court, No. 5511/2568, dated 22 September 2025. She is accused of jointly organising or participating in illegal gambling without authorisation and jointly engaging in money laundering.

According to investigators, the case is registered as Special Case No. 83/2566 under the Technology and Information Crime Division. The investigation concerns cyberattacks on the websites of 16 government agencies, where offenders altered access routes by redirecting users from official sites to online gambling websites. This was allegedly achieved by creating folders or backlink files that caused state websites to point directly to gambling platforms.

Authorities said the group behind the attacks received financial benefits or advertising fees from these actions. The interference meant members of the public were unable to access government websites in the normal way, causing disruption to public services and damaging trust in official online systems. Investigators believe Ms Jessada was involved in this operation and later fled the country.

The DSI stated that Ms Jessada had been living in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, where she worked at a hotel and had travelled back to Thailand. Upon arrest, officers informed her of the charges and her legal rights under the Criminal Procedure Code. They also notified her that audio and video recording would be conducted continuously during his arrest and detention.

Naewna reported that the arrest followed direct orders from Pol Capt Yutthana Praedam, Director-General of the DSI, and Pol Capt Jatupol Bongkochmas, Deputy Director-General. The Surveillance and Intelligence Centre was instructed to track down suspects still evading arrest and bring them into the justice system. Ms Jessada has now been handed over to a DSI special case investigator for further legal proceedings.
