Thai authorities are intensifying their efforts against scammer operations by inspecting internet signal lines suspected of illegal transmission into Poipet, Cambodia. On January 22, 2026, Col Chaiyanong Kasee, commander of the Aranyaprathet Task Force, along with other officials, examined potential cross-border telecommunications activities in Aranyaprathet district, Sa Kaeo province. This follows findings by the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) indicating that internet connections linked to fraud cases had signals routed from Thailand into Cambodia.

The investigation revealed that a private company in Thailand was transmitting internet services into Poipet by installing a signal relay cabinet at House No. 142/2, in the Tha Kham subdistrict. The operation was based in property owned by a local Thai national, and some companies had rented spaces to install server cabinets for this purpose. These illegal transmissions undermine national security and have led to significant harm to victims of online scams.

In response to these violations, the Burapha Force has committed to sustained crackdowns, ensuring that those exploiting loopholes for personal gain face legal consequences. Officials have expressed concern over the damage to national security and have urged the public to report any suspicious activities. This collaborative effort aims to dismantle the network supporting scammers and protect citizens from further harm.

Looking forward, authorities will continue to monitor and investigate internet infrastructure to prevent illegal activities. Legal proceedings are expected against those found violating regulations as the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) takes further steps to enforce the law. Public cooperation will be crucial in identifying and preventing illegal transmissions in the future, reported The Nation.
