A 29-year-old man was left seriously injured after being attacked with a kitchen knife by his wife following a domestic dispute in Samut Prakan province in the early hours of 22 January 2026. The victim suffered a deep head wound and heavy blood loss, prompting emergency services to rush him to hospital for urgent treatment. Police confirmed the suspect remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.

The incident occurred at around 2.15am at a fresh food shop area inside the Bang Phli New Town housing estate, Soi 22, Moo 1, Bang Sao Thong district. The Samut Prakan Rescue Centre received reports of a man seriously injured by a bladed weapon and dispatched volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and medical staff from Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital. First aid was administered before the victim was taken to Bang Sao Thong Hospital.

The injured man was identified as Mr Rattana, aged 29, who had sustained a severe kitchen knife wound to the back of his head, cutting deep to the skull. Police seized the knife believed to have been used in the attack as evidence. The suspect was identified as Ms Mam, Mr Rattana’s wife, who stood by to give a statement to officers from Bang Sao Thong police station.

Ms Mam told police the dispute stemmed from ongoing arguments over her husband’s daily drinking with friends and his refusal to work. She said she had returned home tired from work and repeatedly called him to come inside so she could put their child to bed, but he refused and continued drinking. An argument followed, during which she claimed he taunted her, leading to a physical confrontation and the knife attack.

The victim’s mother, Ms Wanphen, aged 65, said she did not witness the incident but confirmed the couple frequently argued over alcohol-related issues. She acknowledged that her son drank daily and did not work, while his wife had just returned from work feeling exhausted and angry. She said her daughter-in-law did not flee after the incident and waited for police to arrive.

A neighbour, Ms Bee, said the couple argued regularly and minor injuries had occurred in the past. She added that while the woman was known to be hot-tempered, the man also drank heavily and this was the third time a serious incident had taken place.

Amarin reported that police said no charges have yet been filed and that investigators will wait until the injured man recovers before formally questioning him and proceeding with legal action.
