Authorities in Satun province have located the body of Niphol, a 29-year-old man who had been missing for four days. Niphol was found near his home in the Na Thon subdistrict, laying face down beneath a tree on a hillside. The discovery followed a major search operation involving local rescue units, officials, and residents.

Niphol had disappeared from his home on January 23, 2026, leading relatives to report him missing. Local teams led by Saroj Srinoi of the Rom Sai rescue unit, alongside police and administrators, searched the area around his home extensively. The investigation at the scene, conducted by Pol. Capt. Nikorn Mekruang and a doctor, found no evidence of a struggle or assault, though flies and a broken rope were noted.

Family members informed investigators that Niphol had been suffering from depression, which may have contributed to his disappearance and subsequent death. They expressed no suspicions regarding foul play. The body was released to the family for religious services, with officials urging protocol adherence and communication with the family, reported Khaosod.

Looking forward, Lt. Col. Phonphak Phanudetkritt has instructed investigators to maintain thorough procedures. Authorities are expected to keep a close connection with Niphol's family to ensure proper handling of the case. This approach underscores the importance of sensitivity and diligence in such cases.

Key Takeaways

  • Niphol was found dead after a four-day search near his home.

  • No signs of foul play were discovered; depression was noted.

  • Authorities continue to prioritize family communication and process adherence.
