Change at the airport on arrival, their systems are more advanaced and used to handling foreign currencies which up-country banking facilities are sometimes lacking ...........

Exchanged Thai baht for sterling earlier this year at a downtown Thai bank and received the new style £20 note so it is probably down to whether the individual bank clerk is familiar or not with the new note.
