Authorities have arrested a former listed-company executive accused of large-scale procurement fraud and document falsification, causing losses exceeding 300 million baht. The suspect was detained at Suvarnabhumi Airport in the early hours of Thursday as part of a joint operation by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and Immigration Police, bringing a long-running special case closer to prosecution.

The arrest took place at around 6.45am on Thursday, 5 February 2026, following a warrant issued by the Criminal Court (No. 4488/2568) dated 4 August 2025. The suspect, identified as Mr Phuson, faces multiple charges including breach of fiduciary duty by a company director, abuse of entrusted property, falsification of accounts under the Securities and Exchange Act B.E. 2535 (1992), and jointly forging and using forged documents under the Criminal Code. Officers formally informed him of the charges and his legal rights before transferring him to DSI investigators.

The case stems from Special Case No. 230/2565 under the DSI’s Financial, Banking and Money Laundering Division. Investigators allege that Mr Phuson, while serving as a director and senior executive of a company listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, conspired with a Singaporean national and a Hong Kong–based legal entity. The group is accused of fraudulently procuring plastic pellet manufacturing machinery from the People’s Republic of China at inflated prices, resulting in company losses of more than 300 million baht.

Authorities said the arrest was carried out by the Surveillance and Intelligence Centre in coordination with officers from Immigration Bureau Division 2 at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Samut Prakan province. In line with procedures officers notified the suspect that audio and video recording would be conducted continuously during the arrest and detention process. The suspect was then handed over to the responsible DSI investigator to proceed under the law.

Thaitabloid reported that the operation followed direct instructions from Pol Lt Col Yutthana Praedam, Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation, and Pol Lt Col Jatupol Bongkochmas, Deputy Director-General. Their orders tasked the Surveillance and Intelligence Centre with locating and arresting suspects who remain at large in special cases, with the aim of ensuring they are brought into the justice system without delay.

In the modern world with electronic trails everywhere and no confidentiality between banks it is not difficult for authorities to trace the movement of monies or detect fraudulent activity with "ghost invoicing"

Given the large amounts involved some seriously large brown envelopes will be needed to buy off this case
