February 27Feb 27 Two million is one more than I had carried around for buying the first car in 2011.Recently the granddaughter who is very digital savvy did 400k down payment in cash at Toyota.
February 27Feb 27 The safe seems a bit odd. Normally you'd have it secured to something, or have it in a floor or wall. According to the reports they just took it. They'll have to break it open somehow as if they had the key or combination I would assume they would have taken just the money.
February 27Feb 27 Maybe SHE'S still going to buy a 2 million baht house......just not with her current tirak. 55555 stranger things have happened in the Land of Smiles!

February 27Feb 27 Inside Job. The girlfriend may have told someone about the money maybe knowing what would happen maybe not knowing, someone at the bank was in on it or the Brit let it slip to someone he knows.

Bought my first car with cash. Second car was done with a cashiers check. Back then the sellers wanted cash so that is what I provided. These days cashiers checks are more accepted.

You can't do a bank transfer if the seller has no bank account. The money was kept in a brown paper bag. We have a safe now, a proper safe, not one you can casually tuck under one arm as you walk out of the house.

February 27Feb 27 Obviously somebody did rat out. From the girl's side ? Somebody at the bank ? neither of these ? hard to say. Nevertheless, very bad image for tourism.

Phones likely ditched out of fear of tracking software or unusable due to face recognition/passcode software. Cops likely suspect girlfriend, as do I.If the perps were Thai then yes - girlfriend would've been the first suspect - however they were clearly foreign (British accent) so it's much more likely one of his "friends" was in on it. Assuming only a few people knew about the money the list of suspects gets real short. The girlfriend looked genuinely terrified and tried to call for help once she was able to run outside - so unlikely she knew about it ahead of time. (but you never know - it's Pattaya - maybe she ran her mouth at the bar while some guys were listening)The phones were ditched because they never wanted them - they just took them to prevent the victims from calling police immediately after. Either way they'll probably be caught very soon.

( the safe, lol).Extracts from one of the links you posted-Wesley Cyril Russell, 18, of George Street, and Liam Nuttall, 18, of De Lacy Street, pleaded guilty to two charges of burglary at the Sandy Lodge Hotel, Newquay, making off without payment and using criminal obtained cash.Blackburn magistrates heard the pair stole more than £1,500 from the safe of the hotel where they had been staying and then left in the dead of night without paying their £1,922 bill. And they also took a set of master keys which resulted in the hotel having to pay £11,500 to have every lock on the premises replaced. This was back in 2012, so 13 years later he's 31/32. Seems Mr Russell has a thing about safes!
