this is the kind of pictures that are extremely hard to do on a point and shoot! proper aperture priority settings and deep dynamic range picture taking only happens with a dslr.

You seem to be enjoying your new camera. :o

With any new piece of equipment it is always a good idea to test the limits

and see just what you can achieve.

Nikon D40x with a 24-120mm Nikkor VR lens..

Simple equipment really, im just learning along and having fun with my camera..

Soon i will be heading for the 'big daddy', the Nikon D300 :D

Soon as in next year tho, shall wait for a price drop first.. :o

Were the Loy Krathong photos hand held?

Very good.

The exif shows 1/40th sec F5.6 (the maximum?) 95mm

and Manual Exposure.......... Any reason why you did not trust the metering?

I dont like any pics that goes down below 1/20th sec :D

Yes, handheld.. But the lens technology had VR on it, so that helped alot... :D

F5.6 is the maximum with the 24-120mm Nikkor VR lens :o
