A would-be theft targeting a German tourist in Pattaya was stopped by a local resident who noticed suspicious behaviour. The suspect allegedly approached the man under the guise of a hug while attempting to steal from him on Pattaya Sai Song Road. The witness intervened, confronted the suspect, and prevented an escape by stopping the baht bus she tried to board. Police later released the suspect because the tourist left before filing an official complaint. The witness said officers told him the suspect had only recently been released from prison on earlier theft charges.
