Two points.

Ladyboys are not the same thing as gay males.

Secondly, as in Thailand, I'd be more concerned about the homophobic attitudes of expats than locals.

The advantage of the Philippines in that regard is the level of English being so much higher there giving an an easier path to better connections with locals

Why would any gay person choose PI over TH, when having a phobia about anti gay opinions. The country is ~80% Catholic/Christian belief. Only Brazil or Mexico would be a worst choice.

Having such a phobia, TH is the best place for you. We (and you) all know know you'll never leave TH.

To clarify, the Philippines remains a PLAN B option for me in case staying in Thailand ever becomes unviable.

I don't have any other PLAN A options. Thailand is it,

A big advantage of any place in Asean as a Plan B option is being close enough to Thailand would make it easier to travel back (if allowed) to finish up loose ends in Thailand compared to far off places like Latin America.

My current other Plan B options include Cambodia (mostly for proximity), Panama, and Mexico. A number of places are not on my list only because I don't qualify.

Curious, feel free not to answer, Do you own a home here, TH, or rent ? As would think that would be the only loose end one would have. Cars or MB are easily sold.

Why do you think a plan A or B is even needed, as not much if any, has changed for retirees in TH, visa wise, or will in the future, and I believe you are already in you 70s, are you not ?

You seem to worry about a couple things, that don't need the need worrying about, IMHO. I'm heavily vested in TH, and have no worries at all, don't even think about a Plan A or B.

Can't think of any reason that would warrant me to leave TH. Even if they cancelled all long term visas, I'd probably just stay until physically forced to leave. Or simply enjoy the hopping back and forth to neighboring countries, enjoying playing tourist, maybe, or back to USA.

Options abound, as at my age, I wouldn't settle in again anywhere again, just live out of a backpack, as they say, living a nomadic life. Probably be quite fun actually.

People move nations based on multiple factors.

For me the best reasons to choose the Philippines over Thailand are the permanent residency offered by the SRRV program and the English language factor.

Any nation has its pros and cons.

There is no paradise pick except maybe if you're very wealthy where most anywhere can be a kind of paradise.

25+ yrs here, and call me foolish, but I don't see anything changing, and have heard the same doom & gloom since day 1, as you have. I simply ignore it, as have enough gray hair as it is.

Since a membe of TV/AN yourself for 20 years, TH has become more stable and reliant on foreigner's influx of money as time goes by, so our chance of being evicted are less and less every year. 30+ million tourist a year, along with expat numbers ? increasing yearly. They have no plans in rocking the boat, as estimated to be 10-20% of GDP, and scamdemic pointed that out, so our 'residency' is quite secure.

Chill, stop stressing and enjoy what time you have left. It's a beautiful day, even when it's raining in TH, it's better than most other sh!thole, or we wouldn't have stayed for decades 😄

I don't think Thais are any different than rest of the world. I used to work night shift at cheap motel, and I was quite surprised, it filled up almost nightly, and it wasn't tourist or people too young to have homes.

I'd say 90+% were cheating on their spouses or signifigant others.

Personally don't know many Thais that cheat on their signifigant others. Only a couple, and wasn't much of a secret, or more like open marriage. Was the reason I gave the first Thai wife the boot.

Not too much different from what I suspected from 1st Yank wife. Along with both live in GFs in US. Knew a lot of cheating folks in USA, not so many here, TH.
