Netanyahu’s endgame could leave Washington holding the fallout

The war with Iran is entering its fourth week — and the alliance between Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu is beginning to strain under the pressure.

Both leaders launched the campaign promising decisive results. Instead, Iran’s leadership has survived the initial shock, the fighting drags on, and Washington and Jerusalem now appear to be pursuing very different endgames.

For Trump, the stakes are political survival. For Netanyahu, the war may be a once-in-a-generation chance to break Iran’s power for good.

Two Allies, Two Very Different Wars

The United States has shifted its objectives repeatedly — from demanding unconditional surrender to destroying Iran’s missile arsenal and preventing nuclear proliferation.

Israel’s goal is far simpler: eliminate the threat posed by Iran’s regime.

That divergence is beginning to shape the battlefield. Israeli strikes have relentlessly targeted the Iranian leadership network following the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other senior figures.

But those assassinations could also undermine Washington’s diplomatic exit strategy by removing potential negotiating partners.

Trump Wants a Deal — Netanyahu Wants Collapse

Behind the scenes, US officials are quietly searching for an off-ramp.

Trump reportedly hopes for a “Venezuela-style” outcome: keep the regime intact but replace its leadership with someone more open to US demands.

Netanyahu is pushing in the opposite direction. Israeli planners appear prepared to risk the collapse of Iran’s state structures if it weakens Tehran’s ability to threaten Israel.

That difference reflects a deeper divide: Washington fears chaos. Jerusalem may see strategic opportunity.

Energy War Raises the Global Stakes

The tension became clear when Israeli strikes expanded to Iran’s energy infrastructure.

Targets have included oil depots, desalination plants and the vast South Pars gas field. US officials reportedly warned Israel not to escalate attacks on oil facilities without approval.

The risk is obvious. Disruption in the Strait of Hormuz — the world’s most critical oil chokepoint — has already sent energy prices surging.

For Trump, rising petrol prices and a nervous stock market are political poison.

A President Running Out of Time

Back home, the war is increasingly unpopular.

Polls suggest strong opposition to sending American troops into a ground war in Iran. Even voices within Trump’s own “America First” coalition are warning against another Middle East quagmire.

That pressure is forcing the White House to look for a quick exit — even if it falls short of the sweeping victory initially promised.

The War Trump Will Ultimately Own

Despite talk of Israeli influence, the military campaign is tightly coordinated between both countries.

American and Israeli officers work side by side planning operations with United States Central Command. Israel may be the more aggressive partner, but Washington still holds the strategic leash.

And that reality carries a final political truth.

When the war ends — whether in victory, stalemate or chaos — it will not be Netanyahu who pays the price in Washington. It will be the American president who launched it.

Why Netanyahu’s scorched-earth endgame spells disaster for Trump

There's no question that Don going along with Israel's genocidal Kingpin has left him in a very vulnerable position. His support is weakening by the day in the US, and the Iran War will likely be his undoing, so sometimes good things come out of horrible circumstances.

If America can rid itself of this toxic gorilla that would benefit everyone.

Trump has been played again.

The only move Don can make is declaring, "Mission accomplished", taking ALL his marbles home and leave Bibi holding the bag.

US president Donald Trump vetoed an idea by Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week to call on Iranians to take to the streets in protest at their government, according to a report.

“Why the hell should we tell people to take to the streets when they'll just get mowed down,” Mr Trump told him during their call, according to Axios, which cited a US source.

Mr Netanyahu had claimed in the call that the Iranian regime was in disarray and that there was a window of opportunity to further destabilise it, a US official and an Israeli source told Axios.

But Mr Trump expressed concern that such a call would lead to a massacre.

Your bias blinds you to the legitimate concerns of countries who have been the most vocal about the Iranian issue: Saudi Arabia and UAE. They want Iran neutralized. Iraq can't move forward while the Iranian backed militias are trying to overthrow the government. Bahrain wants the Iranian interference to end. Lebanon wants Hezbollah out. The Syrians, and Kuwaitis want the Iranians to stop interfering in their internal affairs. Do you deny this?

Israel Epstein controls the US - it was the best investment they ever made like Russia as well - spying can be cheap if you do it well. Same with APAIC- $100 million spread around and you get to set the world on fire. These are the true arsonists.

So nice to see Trump being portrayed in a caring and thoughtful manner and his detractors embracing and supporting that claim. It's like an epiphany, and an enlightenment all in one.😆

No. I hate the Iranian government as much as you do and I do think they need to be stopped. I am simply questioning a few things.

Did they plan this operation sufficiently and properly?

Was Trump's hand forced by Israel?

Do they have an endgame in sight?

Has there ever been a government in recent history that has transitioned from an authoritarian regime to a democracy without boots on the ground for many years?

Are Americans prepare to make the kind of financial sacrifices they're going to need to make if this war turns out to be prolonged?

Was this the right time to inflict all this financial pain on the people of the world? Some would argue that the economy is already in a slightly precarious state.

Will Iran ever surrender, and was it a total miscalculation to just assume that the people would rise up? I love the Iranian people and I question whether or not we needed to inflict this level of pain suffering and damage of their infrastructure that we have so far, with Israel's very aggressive participation.

I have a dozen more questions but we can limit it to that for now.
